  1. Haha, I completely understand! Sometimes I still expect the school to be like, "oops, we made a mistake!" . I've paid the deposit and received my official graduate school acceptance, so I know I just need to relax!
  2. Congrats on your acceptance to UofA! I'm not in SLP but I know people in the program and they have nothing but great things to say . I don't think all schools require a deposit but I would call just in case. Trust me, they deal with these questions all the time!
  3. UTDallas sounds like an amazing choice! I'm of the mindset that cheaper>prestige, especially in this field. It's not like UTDallas is lacking in prestige, either . Good luck in your decision!
  4. The deadline to accept the offer in writing is April 7 and the deposit is due April 14. Hope that helps!
  5. I was rejected from Dal last year and my letter came very late, I think sometime in May?
  6. This is so odd to me! From where I'm from, nearly every place allows cats. It's when you have a dog that it becomes more difficult. I'm very happy to be moving to an extremely dog friendly city. @awfulpetowner (you are not!), I second the recommendation of finding a roommate. Good luck .
  7. I agree, I applied to the same school three times, was wait listed the second time, and accepted the third time. I second kimmibean's recommendation to improve your application before reapplying. The way I see it is that we obviously REALLY want to be there if we are going through the trouble of reapplying and working on our c.v. Good luck!
  8. I third(?) PsycD and CaraL on getting research experience in psychology labs. I was fortunate enough to be involved in two separate psychology research projects that turned into CI research! Asemooooooo, I was not in school for either one. I approached professors who I know were doing research I was interested in and both were more than happy to have me. I even ended up getting a grant and a stipend for the other. It's free work, after all. Good luck!
  9. CONGRATS, daisynic! As one repeat applicant to another, I'm SO HAPPY for you! You deserve this! Go celebrate!!
  10. Thanks for sharing, twinguy7! So excited for you! :D
  11. @ twinguy7, how did you find out? Was it a phone call? Did you scream? I wanna hear your acceptance story!
  12. Congratulations to everyone who got in! To those who did not, it's ok. Just keep trying because I know you will make an awesome Audiologist/SLP this year or next year or the next. This was my third time applying and I know many others have applied several times. You can do it!
  13. Thank you, congrats to you as well! Determination pays off!
  14. That's how I felt, although I secretly wanted to go to UBC (it's the only Canadian school I applied to)! It's my third year applying, which makes it feel extra special . I'm from Edmonton, Alberta so it's not too bad. How about you? I saw that you're waiting on the U of A--that's a great program! Although not as beautiful as Halifax .
  15. That's exactly how I felt about my 5 rejections after I got into UBC, lol. Are you decided on Dal? Congrats! I am very excited for UBC but a bit nervous to move!
  16. Exciting! I applied to Western last year and was not accepted. I couldn't remember which night it was...it's weird that it's on April Fools though, lol.
  17. So, will you guys find out at 12:00 AM tonight or tomorrow night? Fingers crossed for y'all!
  18. You should post this in the Canadian 2014 SLP thread--it's much more active there and the people are friendly. I don't know much about SLP as I'm in Audiology but your stats and experience sound good . Canadian programs LOVE research experience! My recommendation for the GRE is to use Magoosh.
  19. Yup! I emailed back asking if I needed to send it by letter and they said no.
  20. I was surprised how hard it was getting into an American school as a Canadian! I got into my top choice Canadian school that I thought I didn't have a chance at and rejected from American programs that were ranked much lower.
  21. Just got my official letter! This finally feels real :).

  22. I got my official graduate school acceptance yesterday! Now I can start obsessing over houses and books, haha.
  23. Good luck in the fall! I was accepted to Bloomsburg for Audiology but will not be attending as I was accepted to a Canadian school (I'm Canadian). They seem like an awesome school and I was really impressed with Dr. Gonzalez when he interviewed me. I would have loved to attend and feel bad about declining. I guess we can only choose one! Enjoy!
  24. Haha, this made me laugh. I'm sorry. I hope your adoptive family is MUCH better .
