  1. Finishing up my February 1st application deadlines and wishing I could go back and change my LOI for my January 1 applications! Ugh! haha.

  2. Just a FYI--GRE scores do take several weeks to send. It's frustrating and I'm not sure why they can't be sent sooner because as you said, they are electronic...I'm crossing my fingers that mine arrive on time, too. I STILL haven't heard anything from NIU! Ugh! I debated emailing/calling the graduate school as well but the supporting documents were to be submitted directly to the department, anyway. I already sent three emails so I don't want to be annoying but at the same time I want to make sure my documents are received.
  3. Go for it! I think that sounds like a fantastic opportunity. None of us can tell you how it will pan out in the end but from what I have heard, the schools really like to see research experience and a LOR from a prominent doctor in the field will help immensely.
  4. I think I spend more time on grad cafe than actually working at work :D.

oh good, I'm not the only one who's getting fired. *whew*

  5. Also, autismadvocate, it is my understanding that most schools are flexible on the receipt of late documents that are out of your control i.e. LOR, transcripts. Good luck!
  6. If it makes you guys feel any better, I applied to Northern Illinois University and realized that I wasn't able to log into the online portal to submit my SOP and resume so I tried to contact the school on Monday. They must be really busy because I don't think they thoroughly read my email and I never got a real answer from them. So I ended up emailing the admissions secretary my documents last night on the deadline. Super frustrating but hopefully I get a response soon. I think that I was probably supposed to be sent a PIN after I submitted my application and paid my fee.
  7. That's so exciting! I keep putting off applying to my schools that are due on the 1st just because I can...I know that it is best to just apply early and will probably get around to that this weekend. And yes, it was very odd. I never did get a response from the school as to why I wasn't able to log in so I assume I was supposed to be sent a PIN number. I tried my own password that I used for my application but that wasn't working. Happy waiting! It's already getting to me, too...haha.
  8. Ugh, I've been having some real issues applying to Northern Illinois University! They have a weird system where you complete the application, pay the fee, and then submit your supporting documents. BUT...I never received an email from the school with my log in PIN or password. I've been unsuccessfully emailing the department back and forth trying to explain my situation but they must be busy because they don't seem to read my emails thoroughly. So, I ended up just emailing the admissions secretary my SOP. Hopefully it all works out! AUD2018, did you decide to apply to that school?
  9. rks2010, that's good to know. I haven't actually contacted any SL-P/audiology programs about the GRE, I'm only going on the overall impression I've gotten on these forums. skeener687, my bad. Maybe the AW is more important than I originally thought.
  10. I think AW was introduced with the new GRE so they are still working out some kinks. Don't hold me to that, though! I'm sure the admissions committee will consider the rest of your application. From what I have heard, it is GPA, research experience/SOP/references, then GRE. I think the GRE is probably only used as a final comparison between similar applicants.
  11. Actually, I don't think the AW matters at all . I think they might only look at it if another portion is low. I think this is because a) it's so new and b ) we are asked to submit writing samples or a SOP anyway.
  12. I would be more comfortable with your score than my score. At least it shows consistency across the board. Good luck! ETA: I checked and got my AW score. It is a fairly decent 4.5. I hope that it and my verbal score combined will help make up for the quantitative...
  13. I think you should be fine if you have 150 in both sections or close.
  14. Thanks for your reassurance! My overall score is 297 and if they combine my best scores from both exams (which some do), it is 300. Definitely not the best but I think I have other strong credentials.
  15. Oh boy, I'm so nervous about this. I scored high on verbal but EXTREMELY low on quantitative. Like I will be taking it to my grave. haha. I haven't gotten my AW score yet.
  16. 11 applications + GRE rewrite + bad breakup all in one month = very thankful for waterproof mascara...

      Thank you! lol

  17. Ugh, I hate CSDCAS too. If you don't have an interest in going to this school, I wouldn't waste my money on applying. Did you have to pay to send your transcripts?
  18. I have to apply through a centralized application portal (CSDCAS) and the purpose of this is to provide a "convenient" way to consolidate all of your application materials. However, most of the schools I am applying to that use this system also require their own copy of the GRE and/or transcripts plus a supplemental application complete with fee. UGH. Talk about a money grab!
  19. OK, Thank you for your advice! I think I will do this.
  20. Admissions Office Online, How do you feel about including an addendum in the SOP that addresses this?
  21. Thanks for your response! I feel kind of screwed because my academic performance AFTER my undergraduate does not put me in a positive light (poor grades in a couple of courses, low GRE). All of these occurred in the past few months, which turned out to be extremely difficult for me because of a combination of factors. On the other hand, I have remained active volunteering and being involved as a research assistant in two separate labs. I think I will try and briefly address that this past semester did not work out as I had hoped and focus on the positive things I HAVE done.
  22. Sorry if this has already been mentioned. I'm wondering about people's thoughts on addressing GPA and GRE in a statement of purpose/letter of intent. I have a low to average GPA and an atrocious quantitative GRE score (I will be taking it to my grave, lol). I'm really worried that these will hurt me on my applications and feel like I should explain it. I scored really low on the GRE and in two courses that I took this fall because of a combination of a heavier than usual work load, poor health and personal issues at home. At the same time, I want to keep my SOP positive and don't want to come across as whiny. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  23. Cool! I wonder if they offer everyone interviews or only a select few.
  24. Oh wow, that is early! I will submit mine next week, then. When is your interview? I'm wondering if it comes before we find out from other schools.
  25. I also have 5 and I submitted them to all the schools that DIDN'T set a maximum requirement...I hope that this was ok as well!
