I had the former director at the place I volunteer at write me a LOR. On all of my applications, no where did it ask me to say what her position is/was. I am a little worried b/c when she signs her name on the LOR, she will not have a title by it as she is not working now. We will see how that turns out.

Is it ok to send in a CV if they don't ask for one?

Thank you to all that replied! I am going to send mine! -
Hello. For some reason I think this question has been asked before but I cannot find it anywhere. So sorry if it was asked before. Anyways, I am wondering if it is ok to send in a CV to a program even if they didn't ask for one? In this school's application, the stuff they ask for is very little and I feel like there is no way to tell each applicant apart b/c we pretty much just provide them with basic info such as: previous schools attended, demographic info, college activities one participated in, etc. Even what they are asking for in the personal statement doesn't really allow the admin committee to get to know the applicant. So should I send a CV even if they don't ask for one? Thank you!

LOL, sorry...

I finished reading The Lovely Bones a couple of days ago! I LOVED it!!! I didn't want to put it down! I can't wait until the movie comes out in January! I always like the books better than the movie but I still can't wait! I just start a book called Cold River, so far I am really enjoying it!

I loved the devil wears prada as well! Atonement was a book I could not put down until I finished it! It was soooooo great! I watched the movie after I read the book and even though the movie followed the book more closely than any other book/movie I have seen before did, I still LOVED the book a million times more!! I don't think it will make you angry...stop ready here if you don't want a super minor spoiler...the movie and book have two different endings!

I LOVED "Devil Wears Prada!" The movie didn't live up to the book however.

Hello. I am wondering when to send out thank you letters to LOR writers. Do you send them when it has been confirmed that your programs have received them, or do you wait until you know if you have been accepted anywhere so you can tell the LOR writers in the letter where you are going? What have you done or are planning to do? Thank you!

Haha, good stuff!

Yeah, colleges should think about us that are applying to grad school and wait until we are ready for them to close! My university's offices are closed from Dec 22-Jan 1 and my community college's offices are closed from Dec 18-Jan 1 (which is really the 4th b/c the 1st is a Friday). I called my community college last Friday to see what time they closed for the day so I could get my transcripts and they said 1:00 pm and wouldn't be opening back up until next year! And I was calling at 12:10 living 35 minutes away! Regardless, I got there with 5 minutes to spare...thank goodness!

What does your last semester before grad school look like?
jlee306 replied to LateAntique's topic in Waiting it Out
I only have 4 classes left to take in the spring in order to graduate with my BA: - Learning and Cognition - Physiological Psychology - Counseling - Early Field Experience (which is an internship) -
Thank you to everyone who replied. I found out my GPA today!
-
They are going to get my updated transcripts. I am having my transcripts held by the transcript office until they have my last 4 classes and grades put on there, then they are going to send them out. Therefore, the admissions committee will see my most recent GPA; however, it will not match the GPA I put on all my application material b/c I don't know what my newest GPA is. I just don't want to look bad for putting one GPA and having another appear on my offical records.
-
That was my orginal plan; however, the offices are closed until Jan 4th. I really want to get my apps out tomorrow.
-
Yeah, that is what I currently have...but that would be a lie b/c my current GPA has changed since this semester and I no longer know my current GPA.

Could I put: "3.8 prior to Fall 2009" ???

Hello, I am trying to get my application materials sent out and I have to put my scores on the application. It asks me for my Math score, my Verbal score, and my Cumulative score. I have taken the GRE twice and was wondering which set of scores I put on the application. For example, lets say on the 1st test, I made 600v and 680m and then on the 2nd test, I made a 580v and a 700m. Could I take the verbal score from the 1st test and the math score from the 2nd test? Or do the scores I choose have to be from the same test? Thank you in advance.

Hello, I am having a problem. I am having my transcripts held until they put my classes and new grades on it from this Fall semester that just ended. The problem is that I am trying to send my application materials out today or tomorrow, but I do not know what my current GPA is with these new grades. I have a spot on my CV to put it and that is the only thing I have left to do with my application. The program my university has online to show us our current GPA is under construction until classes start back up in the spring so I will not be able to see it until then. What am I supposed to do about putting it on my CV? Am I supposed to write "refer to transcript?" I really don't want to put that but I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I LOVE running!!! I'm a long distance girl myself! I now have more time to focus on my running since finals are over, pretty much have my grad schoo apps completed, and have no more long commutes for a whole month! Asics...here I come! LOL! Too funny...I need to work on my Spanish as well! Consider reading for pleasure. I have been dreaming of reading for pleasure since the summer. If you find an awesome book that is not school relate whatsoever, you will get lost in it and not think about getting accepted. By the way...the cannot afford a drinking habit comment totally cracked me up!

NYTimes: GRE to undergo big re-vamp for 2011
jlee306 replied to peppermint.beatnik's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
***JAW DROPS*** I cannot believe this crap! "The new verbal section, for example, will eliminate questions on antonyms and analogies. On the quantitative section, the biggest change will be the addition of an online calculator." I waisted soooo much time and money on this stupid test!! And now they want to change it to the way I wanted it done in the first place! Ohhhhh, I don't believe it! All grad schools should just let all of us who have taken the current version in as repayment to the suffering ETS has caused us!! ETS--you know what they say about karma... -
Just to clear things up on what I mean about the postcard...I am sending postcards with everything I send in so the admissions people can drop it in the mail to be returned to me so I know they received it. I was wanting to know what message to put on the card for the admissions people. I figure they know why it is in there, but I didn't want to send a postcard with no message and just assume the admissions people know. I was just wondering what sounds polite enough and not too bossy. Thank you to everyone who has replied so far...very helpful stuff!
