  5. I got pulled off a waitlist! I got the email about 20 minutes ago that I have been accepted by Einstein!

  8. I'm stuck on waiting lists, so hopefully April 15 will bring good news for me!
  9. I don't think so. I reapplied to a school I got rejected from last year and got an interview this year (one step further than I got last year). However, if you got an interview and are reapplying I think you should only do so if you have improved your application (i.e. got much more research experience or have decided on a new research goal). Though truth be told, the only person who can really give you a yea or nay is the grad school itself. Don't be afraid to contact the admissions coordinator of that school and tell them that you were disappointed by the rejection but would like to reapply for the next admissions class.
  10. That's where I am right now, but I don't know where I stand on my waitlist. I'd say that this is driving me insane, but I'm actually much calmer being on a waitlist than I was hearing nothing at all.

  14. I agree. If you look at my first post, I made a point to mention this. Always question and try to improve in order to minimize risk.
  15. legend...(wait for it)... dairy! legendary!
  16. Not an acceptance, but I found out I was wait listed while sitting in Starbucks before work. I was bouncing up and down I was so happy! I thought I completely bombed the interview, so this was a huge sigh of relief
  17. I just got wait listed at my top choice. Sent them an email saying that they are my top choice and that I hope to hear from them soon. Fingers crossed for good news!
  18. Have fun at Albany! Just out of curiosity, when did you interview with Stony?
  19. Never been so happy to be Wait listed.

  20. This is year 2 for me too. Last year I didn't even get an interview, and this year I got 2 and wait listed at one of those schools. Things still aren't looking great, but it is a vast improvement over last year because I completely changed the way I looked at the application process. From what I heard, applying to grad school is a lot like gambling; sometimes the cards are in your favor and sometimes they aren't, but eventually you will have your day. Also, I just got wait listed at Einstein. Not complaining as it is better than a rejection.
  21. Hey, it looks like I'm in the same boat, so you're not alone (I'm still desperately hoping for last minute good news). My plan is to re-assess what I did this year and try to improve my application for next year. If this is what you really want, continue to fight for it. Don't be afraid to ask why you weren't considered, as it may lead to key insights as to what you can improve on. Don't give up!
  22. Don't go to Stony Brook! Reject it so I can take your place! (Wait, did I say that out loud?) I'm just kidding, but in all seriousness Stony Brook's relationship with Briarwood and Cold Spring Harbor do give it a leg up over Albany, and you'll be more likely to be doing research in your field of interest. I have heard stories of people who went to a school for a specific professor, they both requested each other, but once everything was said and done the student got placed in a totally different lab. Whatever your decision, I wish you luck!
  23. I'm still waiting to hear back from 2 schools post-interview (Einstein and Stony Brook). Idk what the deal is with Stony Brook, but I know that their rejections go out the beginning of April .
  24. Double trouble
  25. This thread is making me feel so much better because I know I'm not alone. I got rejected all around the board last year. It was my first time applying out of undergrad and I didn't really take applying very seriously. I applied again this year and although I am still waiting on two schools it's not looking very good . But it just means I'll have to improve my application for next year and try harder!
