I talked to them today and they said they will starting notifying people next week!
-
Anyone else find themselves checking their email, this site, the results page, and all their portals a million times a day? I feel like I'm going crazy!
-
Has anyone spoken to admissions at UVM? I emailed them with a question the other day and they still haven't gotten back to me. I don't wanna be pushy or annoying though

darn I applied around november i hope that's not a bad sign for me but i guess my application wasn't officially complete until mid december when my transcript came through. but loyola said in an email they would send letters no later than march 31st!
-
How did you find out?
-
When did you apply? And was it the apply yourself portal? Congrats!

Someone else got into UVM and now I'm even more anxious! It's one of my top choices. Apparently they call you (for an acceptance at least) and that makes me so nervous!
-
Has anyone heard from ODU yet? I saw one person on the results page got rejected but I haven't heard a peep and my portal still just says my application is complete. Also in my stalking of the results forum I saw that most people who got in in previous years were told during their Skype interview of their acceptance, so is it safe to assume that an interview means you got in?

Has anyone heard from these schools?
slptobe92 replied to Cookie Hall's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Check out the results forum. Some people have gotten interview requests for NYMC already. http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=speech+ -
Has anyone heard anything from Loyola Maryland, University of Vermont, Southern CT State, or Nazareth yet?

Will any of you be attending the Longwood open house on February 19th? I just got an email about it. I live close by (and I'm taking my prereqs through them online) so I may go.

Has anyone else heard from University of Vermont yet? Someone on the results page said they got a call notifying them of their acceptance but I haven't seen any others get in or get rejected yet. I applied around the same time as this person too and it's making me so nervous I'm checking my phone every few minutes!

Is anyone else having trouble checking their application status for JMU? Every time I try to log in I get an error message and it's been happening for days now.

intro to audiology credit

I'm taking my pre-reqs through Longwood and I really like it! I'm taking intro to audiology this coming semester. I'd recommend Longwood! -
Just check your account, I didn't get an email or anything saying I was verified it just showed up on my application status page.

I was verified in less than a week when I submitted with my transcripts and LOR's. I'd contact them if you haven't been verified yet!

Letter of intent/purpose essay?
slptobe92 replied to HopefulFutureSLP2016's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Something important is to make sure you write a different letter for each school. Don't just reuse the same one and tweak it a tiny bit. Also make sure to add in a few reasons why you want to attend that school in particular, like a professor's research or a specific class offered. That can make a big difference. -
Do you get paid during the clinical fellowship?
slptobe92 replied to alejandro112's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Yes you should be paid during your CFY. Some places offer unpaid CFY positions but I'd steer clear of those. -
Medical SLP interest: volunteering, schools?
slptobe92 replied to jmk's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I was only able to do it for a month but in my case no, I don't think so. All the training was provided on-the-job. -
Medical SLP interest: volunteering, schools?
slptobe92 replied to jmk's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I volunteered with a medical SLP one summer and it was a great experience! I also visited NYMC and loved it. I think you're on the right track! Also try seeing if any hospitals near you are hiring newborn hearing screeners! It's a great way to hospital experience and make extra money. -
Questions for SLP Grad students from a HS mom
slptobe92 replied to slpmom's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hi there! I'm not a grad student (yet) but I can answer a few of your questions. 1. I would suggest she major in communication disorders because it makes applying to grad school much easier as you don't have to take any extra classes. That being said, there's no reason to stay at the same school for undergrad and grad unless she wants to. 2. I don't know anything about this one, sorry! 3. Where she goes to undergrad doesn't matter one bit as long as she does well in her classes and get involved in stuff she enjoys! 4. Again, where you go to grad school doesn't really matter as long as it's accredited by ASHA. Sometimes the "big name" schools have "worse" programs because the class sizes are so big and you don't get as much individualized attention. Employers only care that you're certified, where you got your degree doesn't matter. 5. Pick a school that has a CSD/SLP major! I didn't know about SLP until my junior year of college and my school didn't offer that major, so I'm taking this year to take all the prerequisite classes. If she knows she wants to become an SLP definitely find a school that offers that undergrad major. 6. Volunteer/shadow as many SLPs as you can! Sometimes it can be hard to get your foot in the door to do this but still try! You never know for sure if you'll like a certain profession until you see it in action. Volunteering with an SLP helped reassure that this was the right path for me. Good luck! -
You have great stats and no reason to be worried, trust me. You will get in somewhere. My biggest piece of advice would actually be to avoid this website at all costs. It can be a great resource but it can also stress you out to no end. Like you said, all of your applications are done so you can't change anything now or do anything "extra." Just enjoy the rest of your undergrad career! It goes by super fast.

Thanks everyone! This really cleared things up for me :)

I'm about to finish up my applications for fall 2016 and I have some questions about funding. For undergrad I never dealt with funding because my brother, who went to college a few years before me, didn't qualify for anything through the FAFSA so we didn't even fill it out when it was my turn for college. Basically, my family made too much money to get aid. Now that I'm applying to grad schools, my family still probably makes too much to get aid but not enough to where paying for grad school is no big deal. I've been looking into the financial aid opportunities at the schools I'm applying to and a lot of them offer aid to students after they enroll, but why would you enroll in a school not sure if you could afford it and risk getting or not getting aid once you're already enrolled? I'm a bit confused as to how to go about getting scholarships and stuff. I've seen people get accepted to schools in the past with scholarships but I don't see any scholarships or aid opportunities for any of the schools I'm applying to that I can get before I enroll. Also, do I fill out the FAFSA now or after I get into schools? Sorry if these are dumb questions I've just never dealt with any of this stuff before!
