  1. Another PhD acceptance! When will there be any news for us MA applicants?
  2. Finally got a real rejection letter via email. It was password-protected. Not personalized, but it included my name and everything.
  3. Thanks, guys and gals! I am hoping for UT 1) because I've lived in Austin for the past year and loved it (with my S.O. who is here for 5+ years), and 2) obviously an amazing fit and an excellent school! I transferred twice as an undergrad and then moved this year after graduating, so I'm ready to stay in one place for at least a few years. Good luck to everyone!
  4. I feel like I'm hanging tough on way too many things right now, particularly UT. I really want to know if I get to stay in Austin this fall or if I'm going to have to move AGAIN. stress stress stress stress stress
  5. Did anyone else apply to the MA program at the graduate college? Last year they notified a few people around February 25th, but there don't seem to have been any notifications yet this year.
  6. I went to UF for a year of my undergrad, and I'm from Florida. It would be kind of nice to live there again, but I love Austin, so that's what I'm really hoping for. Good luck! Hopefully we'll both start hearing within the next few days...
  7. It was worded very similarly last year, and I thought it seemed unnecessarily harsh.
  8. Anyone else apply to the MA program this year? I'm waiting on that.
  9. I really don't think they've contacted any MA admits yet! Let's hope they start this week.
  10. I just got wait-listed at my top choice. It's exciting and frustrating--you've been recommended for admission, but there isn't a spot for you! Argh. I think this will make it worse if I end up not getting in at all, but it does give me more hope about the apps I'm still waiting on, since obviously I am a good candidate! Apparently at Austin, "about half" of recommended admits get first-round offers, while the other half WAITS. Since this particular wait-list is unranked, it all depends on the interests of the candidates who decline.
  11. Wait-listed! So bittersweet. If you're declining your offer or going off the wait-list to accept a preferred offer, please let the department know as quickly as you can. This is my top top top choice, favorite school, and I want to stay in Austin this fall so badly! Very strange to feel so much pride at being "unanimously voted for admission" at such a great school, as well as so much frustration at having to wait on a real answer for another month! I feel lucky, though, and this gives me so much more hope about all of my other applications. Whew.
  12. Still nothing for me. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I can't help thinking that at least they might still be considering me for the wait-list.
  13. I actually went to UF for a year of undergrad, so I've always known that 352 area code. I'll be watching for it like a hawk this coming week . . .
  14. Cheers! I'm lifting my martini to you right now.
  15. UF and UT are both notifying very, very slowly. I'm just going to assume that I won't hear anything at the weekend, and resume repetitive email-checking and GradCafe-refreshing on Monday.
  16. I'm still waiting, too. Don't think we'll get anything between 5pm today and Monday morning?
  17. Haha, thanks! I keep telling myself, I only need one "yes"!
  18. So true! I'm waiting on a ton of schools, and I decided last week that hope > depressed despair, even if it makes me jittery and nervous for a few more weeks. Better than being a total downer all of the time!
  19. Definitely not an implicit rejection. I feel sure that they have many more offers to make, considering how many days they've stretched their acceptances over in the past. I bet they won't be done until mid - late next week.
  20. Ugh, I don't want to check mine, either. It's so depressing. If you've already received your turn-down email . . . did your online status change on the UT-Direct system?
  21. It seems really weird. Another person wrote that their rejection was an email from a specific professor, and NOT a form letter. I have no idea what to think.
  22. Looks like it was an acceptance to the PhD program. I'd assume they do the MA admits after the PhD admits. I think most of us on this thread are MA applicants, yes? Congrats to whoever it was!
  23. I have Fridays off, so I'll be here watching the phone as it sits on my desk like it might explode.
  24. No kidding, this is so drawn-out. I'm working on essays for a teaching program and watching ridiculous TV shows in an attempt to distract myself.
