Same here. I'll move away from my SO and everything, which is saying a lot. A LOT. This is rough times. -

Well, one rejection under my belt now . . . and obviously I feel no better. Maybe I DON'T want to know all of these results. Uuuuuugh. -
Apparently around 20 last year, I heard? More than a lot of schools do, although naturally they're swamped with applications, too. I hope they get all the notifications out quickly. Like ripping off a bandaid.

Looks like there are two admits now. That amount of money is MASSIVE for an English program . . . just, wow. My status is still the same. They must be sending out more admits, though! They usually accept quite a few, it seems from last year and from 2009.

I wish we could all meet for group yoga.

Looks like they did them over a couple of days last year, and there were some rejections before there were any acceptances. Also my page hasn't changed either. GAAAHAHAHDHGFAGJ

Has anyone's information changed in the UT Direct portal?
-
Yes, good luck! That's a pretty good-sized cohort relative to most other schools. I really wish I weren't at work right now. It's impossible to concentrate on anything.

I see an acceptance. Is this a real one? I am so nervous.

I don't really get Ziggs now that I've signed up! I'm probably not going to use my account. I just want to hear some good news. That is ALL that I want. -

I just created a Ziggs account and it isn't telling me anything; on the other hand, I have a very common name, so it might not be of much use anyway. -

I can speak for how responsive Kathy Williams is; she has responded to all of my questions very quickly, and had also CCed everything to Phillip Wegner. I emailed last week asking about my application status since according to the online checklist I was still missing some materials. She emailed me back to say that my file is actually complete and that decisions would be out in three weeks, by mail. Of course, we all know that admits seem to get phone calls, not letters Still waiting . . . -

A SCREEEEEEEEEAM INTO THE SILENCE

It's like water + lemon juice + sugar. That's what you'd get if you ordered lemonade in America. Except the "sugar" would probably be "corn syrup", unfortunately. It isn't carbonated at all. -

I like Blanche de Chambly a lot. I usually gravitate towards really strong IPAs, but I also love wheat beers when it's warm outside. My all-time favorite beer is actually Chimay Cinq Cents, but it's pretty expensive so I rarely buy it. I like most of the beers that Unibroue makes, too. Any kind of Belgian Triple is fantastic. And no, we do not have lemonade like the lemonade in the UK! I fell in love with Pimms & lemonade when I studied at Oxford, but I haven't been able to find the same kind of carbonated stuff in the US. -

Pimm's is awesome just mixed with British "lemonade" if you can find it. It's sort of a less-sweet version of Sprite. I mix it with a tiny bit of simple syrup and some sparkling mineral water or soda water. I've really been digging vodka martinis lately. A couple shots of decent vodka, a few drops of vermouth, and quite a bit of olive brine = AWESOME. Serve it super cold. What are everyone's favorite beers? Beer is what I usually drink, actually. -
I'm 23, and while I don't feel pressure to get a real job, I feel a lot of pressure to get into a school this time, because my parents helped me out a lot financially with my applications. My family is VERY supportive and they really believe in me . . . which only makes it harder to feel like I might disappoint them. I've always been very academically successful before I started applying to grad schools, so it's rough. p.s.- I'm working as an administrative assistant/customer service person in a big bike shop right now.

Congratulations! That does give me a tiny bit of hope for myself . . . one admit is all it takes. -

Jesus, I'm sorry. I just got my first official rejection, and it has completely ruined my day. I wish I hadn't checked my email until Booze O'Clock at night. My playlist lately has included more stuff like The Ramones and The Bloodhound Gang. Fueling my misery, I guess. -
This is also my second round, and I'm applying to twelve schools. So far I have one official and one implicit rejection, no acceptances, and no wait-lists. At least you managed to work on an MA; apparently I can't even get into those programs. I understand how you feel, and have no idea what I'll do with myself if I don't get in anywhere this year. I don't seem to be able to get a real job with my BA, so I don't even know why I bothered to go to college, much less apply to grad school. This whole thing is so depressing.

I see a PhD rejection on the board. Anyone know about it? Any others? -

I am still enduring the suspense for all twelve of my schools. I thought that this week was The Week, but I guess not. p.s.- We're applying to three of the same places! Good luck. -

I'm also applying to the MA-to-PhD track, and haven't heard anything. Last year most of their notifications went out around February 25th. -

Still nothing! I'm not sure whether to feel relieved or totally freaked out at the prospect of this whole week passing by with no news.
