  1. Have officially declined my offers at U of T, McGill, and UBC (going to the UK) – hope that helps!
  2. Offered for MA political science at McGill, Toronto, and UBC – will be declining to go overseas, however, so keep watching if you're an alternate!
  3. Are you aware that the Cambridge MSc is a two-year part-time course? Given your other choices you may want to look at the MPhil International Relations & Politics instead (9 months, full-time). The minimum grade for applying is the equivalent of UK first class honours, and their website specifies 3.85/4.0 for applicants from schools with the GPA system – if your conversion is right than you should be eligible. From what I can tell, there seems to be less of an emphasis on extra-curriculars/work experience vs. grades and the quality of your research proposal. I was accepted this year and so were a couple of my friends in previous years, so let me know if you have any questions about the application process.
  4. Can anyone speak to the lack of individual supervision at the MA level for U of T? Does the department/program compensate for this in any way?
  5. I also heard from him in February but nothing since (or anything from UBC, for that matter).
  6. For the MA level I was notified by the graduate secretary Monday about being nominated and ranking highly for SSHRC CGS-M – I was in touch with him again yesterday and he said he'd been working on mailing out hard copies of MA acceptances in the afternoon, so I'd imagine that's what's been keeping him occupied before sending out funding notices for PhD applicants (perhaps he's on that now?).
  7. The two e-mails (acceptance + funding) I've received from them so far have only been informal – the first one from the MA director Rauna Kuokannen (sent from the grad secretary's email) and the second from the grad secretary himself – with no official letter or anything of that sort yet. It looks like there's only one person processing the admissions notifications, so perhaps they're still getting through them? Also, if either you or anyone else happens to be wait-listed, I'll likely be declining my offer for a UK program – hopefully will free up space!
  8. Out of curiosity, what did they say about the McGill MA? It's my top choice Canadian program due to the two-year structure and the location. Feel free to PM if you prefer.
  9. I'm an undergrad at Queen's and my thesis supervisor in politics was still reviewing graduate applications at the end of the week of Feb. 6-10 – not sure how useful info that is.
  10. I got an e-mail from Paul Quirk today saying the department's forwarded my SSHRC CGS-M application to the university-level competition – although I think the adjudication for that is separate from the MA political science admissions, so still unsure about actual acceptances. Perhaps they're close though? As far as Canadian schools go, I've also applied to the MA political science programs at Toronto and McGill, but have heard nothing from them either.
