  1. Anyone have first hand experience in CSULB or CSULA?
  2. Does anyone know how WICHE works? I briefly heard about it here on the forums, and I know you have to indicate that you want the WICHE in-state tuition when you apply, but it is not automatically guaranteed you will get it. How hard is it to get the in-state tuition rate? I want to apply out of state because schools are competitive here in California, but the tuition is keeping me away. However if I can get in-state tuition that would make a huge difference.. so now I'm thinking about applying to University of Northern Colorado. But what is the likelihood of getting in-state tuition? Here's the link someone else referenced. Seems only a handful of schools are participants. Anyone know about these programs? Speech-Language Pathology, MA, University of Colorado Boulder Speech-Language Pathology, MA, University of Northern Colorado Speech-Language Pathology, MS, Idaho State University Speech-Language Pathology, MA/MS, Utah State University Speech-Language Pathology, MS, University of Washington http://wiche.edu/info/publications/wrgpHandout.pdf
  3. You're going to want to check with your state on this. Every state does it differently, and I don't think all states require licensing to become some sort of assistant to an SLP. I don't see anything for licensing SLPAs in Ohio so I'm not sure how it would work. In California, SLPAs get licensed through the board based on a number of clinical hours and coursework. http://slpaud.ohio.gov
  4. I'm currently working in ABA as well. Here there is so much need. They are starting to change the requirements because insurance companies want to see that therapists are registered behavioral technicians. My company is giving us the training though to do that. It's definitely not an easy field and not as high of a pay as a SLPA job, which is what I plan to do after this and before grad school, but I feel it's good experience if I pursue a masters in SLP later because in many cases we will have people with autism on our caseload.
  5. I am curious about this as well. What goes into a ranking? For my undergrad, I went to a top ranked school, and honestly after going from there to a much lower ranked school for my post-bacc, I feel there is a reason why schools have the reputations they do. However, with speech-language pathology, I'm not so sure it will make as much of a difference. I'm mainly concerned with the quality of the faculty and their ability to teach and mentor students.
  6. I am preparing to apply for Fall 2017. I looked at only a few programs but the ones I looked at don't have admission open for Spring semester. Good luck!
  7. Thanks for the info about Wiche! Interested in University of Northern Colorado. Does anyone have firsthand experience? I'm looking for a place with great faculty and high standards.
  8. Does anyone have experience with the schools in the Boston area, I'm thinking U-Mass Amherst, UMass Worcester, and MGH, Boston University, etc. I'm leaning towards public schools because the financial difference is enormous! But I wonder how the quality of the education is. Not sure if this is the right area to post...
  9. For the professors that you ask. I want to make it as easy for them as possible and for me! How are you guys doing it?
  10. Hi, I'm wondering about deferring grad school for a year. Let's say I apply to Fall 2016 for a masters in speech-language pathology, but then decide I want to go in Fall 2017. Is it possible to defer? How likely will the request be granted? I know this is possible with med school and dental school through some of my friends but I'm not sure if the situation is different for SLP. Should I just not apply for Fall 2016 if I'm not sure?
