  1. I agree. I can log in and see my application and all documents that are uploaded. Were supposed to get a letter by Oct 1st. I sure hope its on the way.
  2. Are you not able to log in and check your app? I wonder if I should even bother calling her tomorrow. Sighhh
  3. I still haven't heard anything yet either. I can log in and check the application, but the information has been the same for months. I'm starting to give up on TSU. I called Sandy and left a message and emailed a few times. She has not called back or responded to my emails. *sighhhh. Just keep waiting. Just keep waiting.
  4. Hello, I'm interested in applying to online graduate programs in sociology. Do anyone happen to know which universities provide a distance education option? So far, I only found three universities that provide an online option. I am finding a few institutions that don't look reliable and don't seem to be accredited. I am aware the ASA website has a book for sale that includes all of the sociology graduate programs. I'm not sure if it provides details on distance education programs or not, but don't really want to purchase it at this time. I'm having a hard time finding schools within a google search. I don't have a specific university I'm looking for, just trying to find several schools with a distance education option that I can look into. Let me know everyone. Thanks!
  5. Hello, I'm not sure you'll read this response or not since your original response was posted awhile ago. I'm interested in applying to online graduate programs in sociology. Let me know if you can!
  6. I'm going to apply to a graduate program that requires a 4-5 page double-spaced personal statement. I haven't found any other programs that require this long of an SOP. I was a little surprised. The requirements for the SOP are: State your professional goals, interests, and reasons for desiring to enroll in this program. Describe your strengths that will help you succeed in the program and in reaching your professional goals. Describe the significant responsibilities you have held. Include any additional information that you feel will help the committee evaluate your application. I can describe all of these in detail, but not sure I can extend to at least 4 pages. Can anyone give me suggestions or recommendations on things to include or not include in my SOP. Thank you!
  7. Does anyone know of any good websites or university information with questionnaires that help determine the best major/degree to choose based on interests and talents? I did a google search for some, but am not finding any that look somewhat reliable. Please let me know. Give me some recommendations and suggestions. Thanks!
  8. I still haven't heard anything yet about applying for the Spring 2017 semester. Has anyone heard anything from ENMU yet?
  9. Has anyone heard anything or received a letter yet? I'm STILL waiting. Does anyone know if we will receive a letter even if we're not accepted? There are only 17 days until October 1st. I hope we hear something soon!
  10. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology and am currently waiting for acceptance letters from universities to complete my Masters degree. I know this website is for graduate schools, applications, and graduate school related topics, but I have a few questions about the the profession and the role as an SLP. I have been taking notes about things that I'm not sure about, but I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask them. If so, I can create another thread and ask those questions. I've googled and searched for speech pathology forums hoping to find discussions about the profession and role as an SLP and not just graduate school information, but I haven't found anything. Does anyone know of any speech pathology/therapy forums where I can ask general questions?
  11. This must be a fairly new program as I didn't see it available when I searched for online graduate programs in speech pathology. Are the requirements pretty high and competitive?
  12. Hello MLC, It's nice to see yet another person applying to the same program for the same semester as me. Hopefully we all get accepted! I checked my student file too and everything has been uploaded except for my GRE scores. She told me she is still uploading my documents too. I applied pretty early, but everything is pending and I'm still waiting. This process is definitely painful. We should be notified by October 1st. Ahhh, the pain!!!
  13. Hi SLP2BE123! It's good to find another person applying to the same program at the same time as me. And I like your username! Hopefully we will be in the same program together! Ahh. At least you got some more information! I contacted the person in charge of admissions a few times to make sure she received all of my required documents. I didn't really want to call and 'bug' her again.
  14. Hello!

For some reason, it's not letting me leave a reply comment, but I noticed your comment on the Evening food/dining thread and wanted to let you know that budgetbytes looks like a really good website. Thanks for sharing with us.

I'm also curious, what is this group for? I saw your comment and had to look into it as Beals is my last name!

Hope to hear from you soon,

    -Megan

      Hi Megan!

I'm glad you like the look of the website!  I hope it's as helpful to you as it is to me!

I'm not sure what you mean by group?  I just chose the name Beals because it's similar to my first name... it was a random choice, honestly (I'm not great at picking pseudonyms).

      Cheers,

Oh okay. Wasn't sure. Looks like a group. Guess not. Haha.

Ahh, I see.  But nope- just me! :)

  15. I applied to ENMU's distance education graduate program for Spring 2016. I received a letter that I was put on the waitlist. I reapplied for the Spring 2017 semester and am still waiting for a response. The waitlist letter I received didn't mention anything about 9 graduate hours before formal admittance. What are these for and they need to be completed before becoming accepted into the program? Has anyone applied for the Spring 2017 semester? Have you heard anything yet?
  16. I applied to the Tennessee State University Spring 2017 graduate distance program for Speech Pathology. I see, from your profile, that you applied to the same program. Yay for SLP's! I submitted my application the beginning of June and haven't really heard anything. Since all of my documents were coming from different places, I contacted them a few times to make sure they were all received. They were all received and documents are still being entered into my file. I log into my TSU account a few times a week to see if more information has been added, but nothing yet. They are still entering in information. When I called a second time, I was told that letters would go out around the beginning of September. Ahhh, the wait. Keep in touch and let me know how it's going for you. I finally found somebody else applying to the same distance program as I am.
  17. Is there anyone interested in online graduate programs in speech pathology? I'm interested in applying to a few universities, but their clinicals require me to complete them on campus. I don't live close to these cities and probably won't be able to complete them there. Does anybody know of any programs where clinical requirements can be completed in your home state?

  19. Do I need to start the letter off with 'the purpose of this letter is to...." or just with im interested in obtaining my masters degree in **** from *****?
  20. Okay thanks. I see some examples with a header and some without. Besides my interest in the field, reason for choosing my major and this university, and research experience, is there anything else I should be sure to include?
  21. One of the schools I'm applying to requires a letter of intent. I am aware of the basic components in this letter, but do I need to include my name and address as the header and include dear (whom it may concern)? Or can I write it as a normal essay?
  22. Does anybody know which schools do not require letter of recommendation? I'm looking for an online program, but am having a hard time finding which universities do not require letters of rec. Thanks!
  23. I completed my undergraduate degree in speech pathology and will be applying to masters programs for speech.

Unfortunately, I don't have any undergraduate lab experience, so I'm guessing I should ask professors I took courses from for letters of rec. I completed my undergraduate degree in 2013 and although I did well in their courses and went to office hours several times, I'm afraid professors may not remember me as well and choose not to provide a letter of rec.

I did well in my most of my classes. Should I choose three professors and ask them for recommendation letters?

Also, can I ask for a letter of recommendation from a Speech language pathologist who I completed clinical hours with, or should I mostly ask professors?

    Thanks!

hey Speechfan - I just now saw this post. It's a good question but I'm not the best person to answer it. In principle, you do want to make sure the person is somewhat excited to write you a rec and that he or she knows you pretty well.

I would highly recommend checking out Graduate Admissions Essays by Donald Asher - lots of good advice about questions like yours. Also try asking professors in your program about what kinds of recs they'd be more impressed by.
