It would be the best birthday present if UA would just hurry up and decide. -

I agree. It's so frustrating and really inconsiderate of our time. If UA really doesn't let us know until the end of next week that barely gives me two weeks with all my options in front of me to decide. -
Oh weird I've never heard of any of that or seen it any of the times I've visited, which is strange to me bc my boyfriend is usually like a magnet for the aggressive homeless people! (Once he bought a guy Rockefeller oysters in NOLA! ) If that is an issue though, I'd also like to know more about it and about what areas to avoid!

I'm not sure, but probably not. I'm ready for a change of scenery. I sure would miss the football though! Roll Tide!

Wow that's awesome! It must be so nice to be accepted and able to go to your top choice!

@southernspeechie So I talked to one of the clinical supervisors today, and she said we will be hearing back by the end of next week . The adcom is making final decisions on "borderline applicants" this week. Notifications will come in the mail. She said there's a small chance they will come at the end of this week, but probably don't expect anything before next week. I just wish they could let us know so I could move on with my life. I also heard that sometimes the portal is updated before the letters come, so next week I will be checking every day haha -
Thanks!! I don't, and I'm really stressed about it. I'm leaning toward Dallas, but it's the most expensive by quite a bit. I'm also still waiting on Bama and some funding decisions to come through so I can make a fully informed decision.

Just got my acceptance to Central Arkansas. Looks like 64 other people got the email as well

So I only looked at 1 bedrooms this time around, because I'm stubborn, but since Dallas is looking more real, I'm starting to open up more to the idea of a roommate haha. Anyway all the info I have right now is just for the 1 bedrooms that I saw. The one in Irving that I liked was Surrey Oaks. It was a pretty decent sized apartment with a fireplace and balcony 15 minutes away from Callier. Rent was quoted at about $750/month. CGB321 makes a good point, though, that Irving is a pretty hefty commute from the Richardson campus. The Residence at Midtown is about 15 minutes north of Callier and is also pretty close to Richardson. I liked this one a lot too. $675 for a studio. The rooms are pretty small, but it's all been recently renovated and is pretty nice. In Oak Lawn, I looked at the Villas on Gilbert and Bailiwick Apartments. I didn't get to tour either of these, but they both looked pretty nice from the outside. Bailiwick is pretty much always full, and the woman there said I'd just have to call every month to see if there's an opening. The Villas were nothing special from the outside, but the pictures online look pretty nice, and I think it's about $600. Oak Lawn is a nice area with a lot going on, so that's pretty appealing. If I do end up finding a roommate, I'd probably focus on areas like the Village and Oak Lawn. That's a good point; I never considered the distance between Irving and Richardson. It definitely helped to see the apartments in person. Some of the ones that looked really nice online weren't as good in person, and some that I didn't think I'd like very much ended up being my favorites. I would love to compare lists!

Haha I will work on it. I've already texted my friend who works in graduate admission but she is not texting back I'll try to ask around on Monday too. -
Yeah I did. Mizzou seems like a good program but everything they have is pretty outdated, and the clinic is really small. All the students I talked to at Mizzou love it though. The size is a little intimidating, but I feel better after visiting. It seems like they've got a good support system, and there will always be someone around to answer questions or help. For me, the auditorium they have doesn't feel much bigger than my undergrad classes, so I don't think it would be too hard to adjust to that, and only the 6 core classes are really that big. They said some of the more popular electives might be in the auditoriums too, but then you might have another elective with 7 students. Ultimately I think the size of the program is mostly beneficial. It means they have more resources and support from the university. I looked at a couple apartments in Oak Lawn that were nice and not too expensive. Also looked at one in Irving that I liked a lot. And then the Residence at Midtown. Those were the best ones I looked at, but I will definitely need to do some more investigating. I might be in the market for a roommate if I end up at Dallas, because it's so much more expensive than I'm used to.

Huh. I really just thought they wouldn't send decisions until after spring break. I'm not sure how decisions are sent out, if it's all at once or in waves, but I'm hoping it will come in waves! -
Bouncing back and forth between schools

I'm in the same boat. It feels ridiculous to turn down a bunch of money that they're throwing at me, but the other program just has more to offer and I think I'd be happier there. I just can't decide if the years of paying off the debt is worth it -
Hey! So Dallas was on spring break, so I didn't get to see much of it in action. I got to meet with Dr. Stillman one-on-one. He was very kind and helpful with all my questions. The facilities are the nicest I've seen. The building has a lot of great resources, including several group therapy rooms, both for kids and adults. Group therapy seems to be a main focus for the program. They are also building a new autism center on the main campus. I didn't get to see that, but Dr. Stillman has just come from the first walkthrough and he said it was really nice. Since it's on main campus, we wouldn't necessarily be spending much time there, but we would have opportunities to have practicums there. Both Dr. Stillman and the grad student who showed me around said that they've managed to make the program pretty low-stress, which is quite different than the other programs I've seen. (At Mizzou, students told me it's not uncommon to have 12+ hour days!) I was told that most students there are able to maintain part time jobs, which isn't always the case at other programs. They only offer assistantships to PhD students, but they are able to offer a lot of support through work study and most students pretty much get to choose who they work with. There are only six core classes required for the program, and the rest are electives, so there are a lot of opportunities to explore the field and to really focus in on your interests. The core classes will be in auditorium classrooms, since there will be about 90 students in the fall, but then electives will be in smaller rooms, sometimes even in conference rooms. Even in the big classes, the professors are engaging. The student I talked to told me that she's gotten her first choice practicum for both semesters. There are also so many different practicum opportunities around Dallas. It really seems like they do a good job of making this huge program feel small. I really loved the program, and right now, it's by far my top choice. If I can figure out the money, I will most likely be attending in the fall! If you have any more specific questions, let me know.

I haven't heard anything. When did your friend hear back? I was under the impression that they were just starting to review apps last week -
Alright I will do that! Thanks y'all! @esopha @NorcalSLP

So I'm going to Mizzou's open house tomorrow. It's our spring break and I've just dragged my boyfriend all over the place looking at schools with me. Would it be okay for me to bring him to the open house, or should I send him away to amuse himself while I'm there?
-
I was waitlisted too. Don't know why it had to take so long. I most likely won't be accepting my spot
-
Me too! So tired of waiting!

I'm here visiting right now and it's been mid 70s-lower 80s all week. When we visited at Christmas, it was in the 40s. They usually get one freeze a year.

At this point I am pretty confident it won't be an acceptance from Emerson, so I really wish they'd just tell me that so I can let go of them
