I have a friend who works in graduate admissions and I asked her if people haven't heard back yet, does it mean they're rejected or waitlisted and she said "not necessarily." She's getting tired of all my questions so I didn't press for more haha. I do know some people got rejection emails early last week, but I haven't heard anything about a waitlist either. From talking to current grad students here, it seems like they might not tell you you're waitlisted until a spot opens up for you. Several of them didn't hear back from UA until late May or June. So if you don't hear back in the next couple days, it might be best to call the department and see what they can tell you about your status. -
When did that come in? I just officially accepted this afternoon!

There is also a scholarship application on Galaxy you can fill out if you aren't eligible for the FAFSA

A couple of the professors said that letters are in the mail and we should hear any day now. So I'm really hoping for Monday? And they said funding decisions will come with admission decisions. -

Yeah I have heard rumors around the clinic that they plan to do all rejections by email and acceptances by post. I don't know if all the rejects have been sent or if letters are in the mail -

I'm an undergrad at UA so I heard from people at the program. I don't know, I just know they're working on it now. My friend in graduate admissions just told me about the process and it sounds really inefficient. The grad school sends completed applications to the department and once the department decides, they send grad admissions an email for each applicant saying admit or deny. They print those emails off and put them in the applicants' files and then some poor sap has to go through each file individually to update the portal. She guessed he has about 200 to go through right now so it will take a while. They might not all be posted until the end of the week. -

Final decisions are made! The graduate admissions office has received them, so I'm hoping the portals will be updated soon! -

Yeah I agree. If they had made decisions, they would need to send them to the graduate school for the portal to be updated, but the grad school office hasn't received anything from them yet. I'm sure letters haven't been put in the mail yet. If decisions come tomorrow we only have 11 days to make our choices. This is crazy. -

Haha that sounds like a really good idea actually. I can't just let go because the "what ifs" will kill me, but I just want this awful process to be over. -

Wait now I don't know. One of my classmates just told me she emailed one of the supervisors today and she said that final decisions still haven't been made and that this week they have been doing Skype interviews with out of state applicants. And that the faculty are supposed to look at the lists "soon hopefully next week." I don't understand what's going on anymore or why we're getting all these conflicting messages. At this point it is just completely disrespectful to the applicants' time and I'm really ticked off. -

Agreed I think it's ridiculous. One of the clinic supervisors told me they have had a lot going on this semester, they lost a faculty member and spring break was earlier this semester than normal and idk it still seems like there's no excuse for it to take this long but I am very offended. I still didn't get a letter today fingers crossed for tomorrow! -

My mail doesn't come for another couple hours, so I'm still holding out hope that it will be here since it only has to travel about 10 minutes haha -

Well my UA portal finally updated to "reviewed by department." Why can't they just send emails like every other school? I'm really hoping the letter comes today! -
I agree with ClassApp. When I was researching my programs before applying there were things I liked about each one of them, but talking to people here has really helped me get a better feel for some of the programs, especially the ones I can't visit. I also didn't start asking these kinds of questions and seeing what people thought about certain programs until I was accepted to them, because I didn't want to fall completely in love with a school that I couldn't attend and end up with my heart broken. Talking to current students at programs has been the single most helpful factor in my decision-making process. It's the best way, in my opinion, to really get a feel for what the environment of the program is.

I was just told that UA should be getting letters in the mail today, so hopefully we'll know soon! -
So for those of you who committed to Memphis, how did you know it was the right school for you? What are some of your favorite things about the program? Was it your top choice?

Rolling Admissions/Spring Admissions
BamaBelle replied to masonnjarr's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Dallas has spring admissions. From their website: " Although there is no specific GPA or GRE cutoff for admission, most admitted students have an overall GPA of at least 3.6 and a GRE of 305 or higher. The median GRE score for students entering the program in Fall '15 was 314 and the median overall GPA was 3.8. "
