  1. I have been accepted to University of Tennessee (ranked #36) and other schools and I did the following: english degree for undergrad prerequsites for grad school: speech science, normal language development, articulation and phonological disorders, anatomy and physiology of communication, basic audiology, phonetics, aural rehabilitation, neuroanatomy, statistics, chemistry and lab, biology and lab, and psychology I only met what you might call the "bare minimum." However, I will add that my overall GPA has remained at a 4.0 for all courses taken so that probably needs to be taken into account as well.
  2. We are supposed to find out whether or not we have been accepted to Samford University today or tomorrow I believe.
  3. I grew up in Memphis. Most people love or hate Memphis, but I love it. It's home. Picking the right place to live is just a matter of going into town and finding the right, affordable place one weekend. I would not recommend basing your living decision off of a post you see online. Collierville is a town about 30 minutes outside of the city and it is a picture-perfect town. There are several towns like these that if I get into Memphis for SLP grad, I will pair up with several girls and split the cost of a small house.
  4. I got accepted to UT. My parents live in Tennessee, but I have worked and been in school for the past 4 years in Alabama so I'm not sure what residency I can claim. Drivers liscense is Alabama because before my parents moved to Tennessee a year ago, we were Alabama residents
  5. To the post above, that interview sounds weird. Haven't heard of any like that before. @SouthernDrawl : Looks like we will be hearing from UT Knoxville tomorrow since we didn't today.
  6. You will be fine!! Go for it!
  7. Eight Prereqs: 1. Speech and Hearing Science 2. Audiology 3. Aural Rehabilitation 4. Anatomy and Physiology of 5. Speech and Hearing 6. Articulation and Phonological Disorders 7. Language Development and Disorders 8. Phonetics **You also must acquire 25 hours of observation at the clinic** In addition to the 8 classes in SLP, AHSA (Department in charge of all SLP regulations) requires you to also take the following courses: 1.Statistics 2. Chemistry and Lab (the easy one not the hard one) 3. Intro to Psych 4. Biology and Lab Hope this helps. I have already been accepted into grad school with only these classes.
  8. I have a friend who is currently in the program. She was accepted with fairly average stats after being wait listed there. She said the interviews are back to back and have a time limit of staying around 5 to 10 minutes.
  9. I have been asked to interview at Samford first of March. Does anyone find it to be odd that the southern schools are keeping so quiet? I haven't heard anything from Montevallo, Alabama, Auburn, South Alabama, UGA, Memphis, or UT. The only schools to even confirm they received my app were South Alabama and Memphis.
  10. I wanted to start this post so we can track the speech pathology programs in the south. There are so many threads regarding the northern schools, it gets tiring sorting through all of the different posts. This thread is for southern school programs ONLY (ex. schools states like Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and the Carolinas).
