  1. Thanks everyone!! Davida Charney and some of my POI just emailed me, and I know I need to email back, but I can't stop shaking to think of a coherent sentence to write back.
  2. I GOT INTO AUSTIN- HOLY SHIT. I'M SHAKING. THIS IS MY TOP CHOICE- OH MY GOD
  3. One of my profs who went to Chicago said he Christmas treed math, so I did too. I was in the 20something percentile. I’m not even really that bad at math (not that you’d believe it, lol).
  4. I’m pretty sure they were more thorough here than when I’ve gone through TSA. I suppose they have certain guidelines they’re supposed to follow and some of them do/don’t with certain amounts of flexibility. I just really hope I never have to take it again.
  5. I saw them and thought of you, hopefully good news is waiting/coming!
  6. I don't have an academia.edu profile, but now I wish I did! I do have a website, and the day after the deadline of one app the views went up crazy high... I can't really see locations outside of countries... So I'm really just left guessing.
  7. When I was doing my MA I waited until I accepted. I think that’s probably okay/standard, especially if you have to pay for officials transcripts.
  8. Of course! We’re all in this together, and I’m happy to help. I was clueless when I started applyingto conferences and one of the phd students here really helped me out.
  9. Yeah, that should probably be okay. You could include the bio in the document too, but keep it separate from the proposal. They weren't very clear and it's a grad conference, so it should be okay.
  10. My 2Cs: No need to include anything about the conference in your proposal. You can do MLA style if you'd like, but it doesn't necessarily matter for conference proposals because you typically don't have to cite anything. Rather, pick a font/size that's readable (probably TNR). Your bio should probably be separate. For instances of bios, I normally include "mk-8 is an MA student here. she researches x and y, and plans to pursue a PhD" or something similar. If you'd like, you can send me a PM and I can shoot you and email of how I've formatted conference proposals before. I looked up the conference, and it looks like you need to email the proposal (rather than a form or something, ugh, forms are so much easier), so what I typically do for that is include the info in the body of the email and an attachment. Hope this helps!
  11. What's the paper proposal for?
  12. Wow! Go to the gym and you miss all the excitement! Congrats everyone!
  13. You have no idea how much this calmed me down, haha. I didn't get that email until the 18th, and responded right away, and they didn't email until today that my application had been forwarded. Considering the deadline was like 3 weeks ago, I'm freaking out. I remembered when I uploaded them myself, it kept saying the file was too big (which was crazy, my MA transcripts are one page), so maybe that had something to do with it, but I also figured maybe they needed some of the transfer transcripts from undergrad? (You know- when I took Spanish in 2011 in high school, super important).
  14. Did anyone else apply to Texas Tech? The grad school had issues with my transcripts, and I'm now very extremely nervous.
  15. Ah, that makes sense! Well.... It's no better constantly refreshing portals, as I am doing instead of writing.
  16. Thank god for google remembering my password for all but one of those.
  17. Congrats you two! Maybe future cohort mates?
  18. I think this is my favorite one so far
  19. Car issues are the woooooooooorst because they're so expensive! My dad is a car guy, but my dad is quite far away now so.... And I'm so sorry about having the change insurance! It's so tricky. I had some battles with my health insurance company last year because they wouldn't cover my one of my doctor's visits and I was just kinda like well what's the point of having yooouuu?
  20. I could be wrong- that's what my Purdue app says, but different programs so... who knows.
  21. One of my tires keeps losing air. The "low tire pressure" light has come on like 3 times in the last month. My tires are pretty old and close to being needed to be replaced, but I reallllly don't want to have to pay for new tires. I'm taking it to a shop today, so hopefully they can patch it and I can at least carry on for the next few months.
  22. I think it's essentially the same as "under review," so to say a decision has not been made yet.
  23. Yes, the 9th circle of hell is actually just waiting to hear back from graduate schools. No updates at all. No "we'll be alerting in early February." No "we're still reviewing applications." Just continuing update a portal that says "Application under review" or "Awaiting decision."
  24. This speaks to my soul and was 100% the same way that I felt, lol.
