Do you think you'll get off the ODU waitlist? Is this your first time applying? Its been crazy competitive. Is it because we are in a recession or what? Are people going back to school? I feel like its going to keep getting more and more competitive.

Did they tell you , you would hear back in two weeks?? The suspense is killing me too! A friend got a rejection letter :/ they didn't even interview her. So I dk!! Hoping this week is the week!

Spoke to the director and they said that they are working on the applications and we should hear back soon.

I went to the open house and they said that they had already made all their decisions, that the graduate admissions is separate department and since they do ALL of howards admissions that it would take awhile for them to mail out letters. From the past I've seen that people who were accepted were emailed, so I am assuming if you didn't get an email you were either rejected or waitlisted. I still haven't heard anything or gotten a letter, I did contact the graduate admissions office.

I didn't even apply there but thanks for making an early decision! BEING ON A WAITLIST is terrible.

Did you interview for UDC?

I am still waiting on Howard and UDC.....its getting pretty late.

It was face to face and then a phone interview. Did they tell you when you would hear back? It's been two weeks and I have not heard back from them.

When I spoke to graduate admission they said all admissions decisions will be made via postal, when I asked if it would be emailed. SO I HAVE no idea. They told me they received 400 applications this year and thats why they were so behind.

They already reviewed all the applications, they submit their admissions etc to the graduate school admissions, which does it in waves. So you should get a letter in the upcoming weeks, one of the professors said they mail out acceptances too...but from what I've seen most people are emailed. They have until the 15th to decide. There were some people in the open house that had several acceptances to other schools, so at this point it seems like april 15th will be the date to look out for. I still have not received a letter or anything. So I am going to take that as either a waitlist or rejection. The school is predominantly AA which I am not. I think out of their class from last year, from the pictures I saw, it was 90% AA and there were 3 students who were not. Which is great because they are a national black school. Either way on my end its not looking all that great!

I am still waiting on Howard, UDC, UMD and GWU. So I feel like I've been waitlisted to all because I haven't heard much. :/

Howard is killing me. No mail no responses , nada!

I don't but with that said going to the open houses is a big deal especially if you go and talk one on one with the faculty and express your interest. It definetly puts your name up there and shows how committed you're. It's a shot, plus without interviews it lets them get to know you.

This whole process really really needs to be streamlined, like medical school. They have a program, everyone finds out the same day and makes choices. ITS SO stressful!

I think its too early for you to be thinking about your life choices. ALOT of people get off the waitlist and being waitlisted to 7 schools is really promising. I think you're doing everything right, I am 28, I thought I wanted to go to med school then didn't like that then thought maybe PA school but now and now I found SLP and I wonder why I ever wanted to do anything else! People reapply up to 3 times, I think its still early and I hope that you get in somewhere! Everyone has a journey they have gone through to get here and you're not old at all!

WOO HOO Texas! I am from Dallas and honesty, the questions were hard! I thought it would be a more relaxed interview and they would get to know me better but it was more of , we have 10 questions to ask you and now we will sit here and judge your answer. They didn't give much feedback but besides that, they were so nice! I have reached out to like literally 10 students and gotten feedback from like 6 and they all had amazing things to say about the program. The only negatives were 1. that the school itself is disorganized but that the speech program is separate from the school and that 2. you had to be a bit independent, that they don't hold your hand for everything but some students said that was a positive. They enjoyed the independence and learned more from clinic. Besides that, they all seemed very happy! I had my interview last last friday and haven't heard anything back. I would just say make sure you know the school in and out and that you know exactly why you want to go there!

My friend got a rejection letter in the mail from Gallaudet like yesterday. SO I have no idea!

I posted that...and they said "everyone would receive a letter" and they were mailing them out friday. I am going to the open house thursday and I am wondering why NO ONE Knows anything. Its kinda annoying honestly, its getting late! I keep trying to call or email but its so hard to get any information! I know someone that got a rejection letter in the mail, but that is all.

Will you stay in Bama if you get in? It is hard to move away from home, especially alabama. ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Has anyone heard anything from Howard, I know they have sent out a few rejection letters. I contacted the admissions person and they said letters were mailed out friday but haven't seen anything on grad cafe results page or in general.

Yeah @kgehlha it hurts a bit but at the same time they worked hard to be there and its hopeful because it means that the waitlist will be bumped up! I am like, YES REJECT that school so I can get in!!! It will be okay! Have you heard back at all from any schools?
