  1. BORING??? Dallas NEVER! lol Its not as green as some states but we are trying! We do a lot of festivals and there is always something going on and our food is actually amazing! Can you tell I am from there? @hopefulspeechie16
  2. You have to remember that you're investing in a career, not just a job. Taking out loans and paying for school is expected, you will pay them back but it will be based on your income if you do an income based loan repayment. Also, your education and investing in it is something that will never fail you, unless of course you don't drop out. You'll be working for 30+ years, I think its more important to look at the experiences or specialty fields schools have, or some faculty members that you want to work with. Funding is great but at the end of the day you should go where you want for the experiences and really weight out your options instead of being lead astray by rankings or the though that just because a school is more expensive its a better school. Good luck!
  3. I havent gotten anything from Howard or from UDC. ugh, this is taking forever!
  4. Thats on the money, and sometimes we get like 108 and its hell. Otherwise its very mild weather, our weather can be sporadic tho, example today its hailing, yesterday was beautiful, overall dallas is awesome
  5. Yes already did that! I actually got a position doing research this summer at UMD so they know I am very INTERESTED! I was in contact with them but they assured me I wouldn't know anything until April 15th and later. Is that the date they gave you to accept your offer?
  6. That is amazing feedback! I think it matters what you do with the experience and who you make connections with
  7. awesome thanks! I bet it will help some people make decisions! Hey people who have been accepted, when did they give you guys a deadline to accept or decline, is it april 15th? Is that pretty standard? Just wondering when to hear back from the waitlist of doom!
  8. Your externship matters, the rotations you do matter and what you get yourself into. A degree will be a degree, its about networking and making sure you have the adequate experience, you'll just have to work a bit harder to make those connections but it can be done. I would say ranking matters if you're planning on getting a PhD. Otherwise you're going to get a job, its just like any degree. If you're pursuing a higher education it matters, otherwise your experience , your interview where you worked will matter.
  9. That is great advice! you can also still try to get scholarships, they are available. It is hard when you have to make those kind of decisions, luckily I waited for my husband to finish medical school so I could go to school. Even then I am thinking about working part time. BEING A STUDENT IS SO HARD.....give me money! lol
  10. hahaha I really enjoyed your blog , awesome job!
  11. You might still get in somewhere! I would still keep hope, seems like you have a decent application!
  12. That sounds so painful. I had a friend that got accepted the first week of medical school. So you have to drop your life and just go lol I hope it doesn't come down to that, one month more....
  13. Sorry , what are you stats? Is it your first time applying?
  14. Anyone have any information in general about waitlists? Do people actually get off of them or should we just take it as a gentle rejection? Any stories of people getting off waitlists?

  16. When I interviewed they seemed great!
  17. OMG yeah! ahhhhhh
  18. Why didn't you apply to other smaller programs, like UDC? The schools you are applying to are generally more competitive. Asha Ed Find is amazing for providing you with stats, although your mother is trying to look out for you, it doesn't make sense if you're trying to go back into SLP. Maybe taking some more courses in communications to strengthen your GPA or getting more experience in the field would help more. Also reaching out to schools for feedback! There are a lot of other options. You could do research with someone at a school you want to go to, there are always forms and ways to volunteer and become involved.
  19. Yes I posted some comments on another thread!
  20. I don't know, Howard apparently emails acceptances to applicants and letters to those who are waitlisted or rejected. I HAVE NO IDEA! :/
  21. I got waitlisted this morning from UMD and GWU, still waiting on howard and UDC
  22. I lived in Daphne for a year and half, I am from texas but alabama will forever have a place in my heart Currently in baltimore. Still waiting for on a letter from Howard and hopefully get off a waitlist. I hate waitlists!
  23. Good luck! I do miss me some alabama, have you not heard back from them yet?
