  1. Got my final rejection email. No luck this application cycle. Got an email from the director of one of my schools telling me I had a strong application but the competition was too stiff this year. No clue if I'll apply in the future. But hey, them's the breaks. Best of luck for everyone else waiting to hear back!
  2. I personally plan to call the university on Tuesday if I don't hear anything today or Monday.
  3. Congrats to you both! I got a rejection from a school (2/3 rejections now). Waiting on my final university and I'm feeling pessimistic about the whole ordeal now. :-(
  4. Just got rejected by my #2 school. The downside of applying locally is the small margin of errors available. One school left to me, and I was wait listed in April. If/when I get rejected, I'll devour a pack of American Spirits to mitigate the emotional pain. Spread that love all around!
  5. I know that feeling all too well. I applied only locally this cycle due to finances (Peace Corps doesn't give its volunteer much disposable income after all), and I've been rejected by one one of my three schools while I've been wait listed by the other two. Feeling so cynical and down right now as we are in the final week now with no new news. Been told I'm in tier one list for both schools, but sheesh, my life plan is up in the air by this situation. :-(
  6. Got my rejection email from FSU. I half expected this would be the case when they refused to accommodate my needs for an interview as I served my time over in South Africa. Still blows to see that official rejection. Still hoping to get off the wait list for South Florida and University of Florida.
  7. Oh man, if this involves school psychology, I may finally be getting off that list!
  8. Congrats, man! Waiting on USF myself for their school psychology program. High on the wait list so I'm slightly hopeful. Good to see someone there is moving on up!
  9. Have you checked the cost of living for both places? Your financial package may stretch a bit further in one location than the other.
  10. Bloody hell, some of these universities are cruel. I received an email regarding one of my wait listed school, and I was like "IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!". Then I read the content of the letter saying I am still on the wait list, they are still interested in my application, and letting me know I'll know by April 15. I appreciate the update, but eish, the headline gave me a minor heart attack.

I was informed of my wait list status by University of Florida. I did a Skype interview in lieu of the in-person interview as I was serving in the Peace Corps during that period. This was for school psychology.
  12. Thus people being called off the wait list begins! Congrats, man! Must be a jubilant feeling for such a random call to occur. :-D
  13. The perfect thread for me. I have been wait listed at 2/3 universities. One school is perfect for my research interests. Aggravating to wait until mid April to know if I will get in or rejected. This is a period of pure agony!
  14. Since I've been wait listed at my two schools of choice (unknown for my last one),I decided to treat it as a rejection (for now), and I'm looking at opportunities to improve my application and make some $$$ on the side. I may do the Child Protection route for a year to bolster my application. Though ideally I would love to get a research assistant in the psychological field to amend my glaring weakness concerning research experience.
  15. USF sends letters out. I only found out I was wait listed this past weekend due to my mother receiving my snail mail while I live overseas. So check your mailbox if you haven't already.
  16. The agony of wait lists. Another establishment tossed me into wait list category. Quite demoralizing. My safety hasn't made its decision yet, but its funding may not be as reliable as the other two, which means I probably won't go. Looking at jobs in mental health for children to strengthen my work credentials and to attend classes to improve my weaknesses (no relevant foreign language background and minimal psych classes). Depressing I may not get into my desired schools but that's the cruelness of reality. I should know my fall by April 15th.
  17. I can't escape this waiting hell. I got wait listed at the two school I wanted in, so I have to wait until April 15th, at the latest, before I'll get any peace of mind! Uggggggh
  18. University of Florida placed me on its wait list, so here comes the wait period to see if I'll get accepted by April. Still waiting on USF and FSU. USF is still my top choice, and I had a good interview with them, so I'm quite hoping I get in!
  19. Howdy, So I am in the interview section of my graduate application for School Psych. I am currently living overseas, and I have to do all my interviews via Skype. One of the school informed me the faculty decided not to Skype or phone calls for their interviews. I was informed this won't hurt my application, but I'm a skeptical man at heart thus I am here to ask if others have been through this before. Have any of y'all been force to skip an interview and still been accepted into the program?
  20. Seems like I was given interviews for my three preferred schools for my EdS programs. Quite anxious to knock these out so I can figure out my future plans once I get back states side. Hope the holidays didn't make anyone too impatient during this fun application process!
  21. Thankfully I'm staying within the Florida public school system to get my degree, which is significantly cheaper than the northern universities. So one of my more expensive schools' tution would be 18K for the three years, without any funding. Appreciate the tip.
  22. Curious to hear and everyone's opinion for entering debt for a Ed.S. in School Psych. This isn't my situation, I partly expect funding, but it's good to know in case it's either debt or no grad school
  23. I'd suit up. Better to be overdressed than underdressed. The latter implies one not caring about the position too much (at least that's how I would view it). Even doing Skype calls for my interview, I still plan to dress formally to enter the right frame of mind.
  24. Got my first interview request from The University of Florida for next month. I'm glad to see my application is strong enough to get pass the rudimentary stage. Had to get Skype for the interview due to living overseas. The excitement of this is happening hasn't landed yet!
  25. It was a fantastic feeling submitting my applications. It will feel even better once my last reference submits his letter later today. The final schools I applied to were FSU, UF, and USF. USF is my top choice, partly for funding, but a lot of my interests stems from the university's focus on HIV for school psych. That's what I've been teaching on for the past couple years in Peace Corps!
