Rejection Thread (Fall 2017 applicants)
PNIplz replied to deeeeeletedpeacetgc's topic in Psychology Forum
Ugh yeah WashU/WUSTL stung bad for me as well. Also had a very receptive POI. Was really hoping I'd get it. Don't give up hope on other schools though!- 89 replies

The potluck dinner was really fun though and a great way to get to know everyone. Enjoy it!
-
I highly doubt you're expected to bring anything. I just had a potluck dinner at an interview last weekend and the faculty and grad student brought things but we weren't expected to.
-
To the person who was rejected from UCLA, was it directly from the POI? Was it departmental? I still haven't heard anything from them....
-
Anyone else post-interview and waiting for a phone call? #dying Worse torture than waiting for interviews. Way worse.
-
Congrats to the person who got into UIUC! Can you PM me the initials for your POI? I would really appreciate it!
-
Called Carnegie Mellon and the Social/Personality/Health area will have invites out by the end of the week! Should expect a departmental email if you are invited.
-
WOW that seems REALLY harsh...maybe it wasn't somewhere you would've wanted to be anyways...doesn't seem like a very flexible environment? Luckily it seems you have lots of other interviews! Good luck at those!
-
Called Pittsburgh and they offered to check to see if my name was on the list to be contacted by POIs. Unfortunately I wasn't but if anyone was dying to hear from them, don't hesitate to call!
-
Me as well! I called most of my schools and it seems that other than what I have presumed are definite rejections, people haven't really sent out their mass email yet. Rather, a few lucky people are getting emails directly from their POI and it's still not everyone that POI is asking. Interesting politics there, but I'll take it.
-
Heads up, I called Emory and they said there are still faculty making decisions!
-
Congrats to the person who got invited to Pitt's interview weekend by their POI, could you please PM me their initials? Thank you!
-
Still haven't heard anything from anywhere since December...when is it time to give up?
-
also could the person who posted about Pitt please DM me their POI's initials? this is my top school! thank you!
-
To the person who got rejected from Drexel by email...was this by a POI you emailed first? departmental? I still haven't heard anything. You can PM me if you don't want to share here!
-
Ahh, thanks. I'll probably still hold out a few days...maybe email my POI to confirm. Thanks anyways for sharing the news!
-
Are you at U of Miami? Ugh was one of my top schools
-
I checked this list and it was missing one of my schools and had another one that was incorrect...though I'm sure it may be correct for other schools...may just be that my schools didn't answer or something...
-
For the person who got interviews to American and Emory, congrats! Can you please send me the initials for your POI? Was the email sent by DCT or by your POI? Thanks!
-
Mine is a week from today so I went ahead and just sent a quick email to the faculty member who communicated the invite. Was just brief and said something along the lines of wanting to make sure that I was interviewing with the mentor I applied for as I continued preparing for next weeks interview, etc. I only did this because it was so close but if you get to a week or shorter I feel like it wouldn't be harmful to do the same!
-
Alright now I'm getting nervous...can this happen? Could I have been assigned someone I never requested without anyone telling me?
-
The interview I received from one of my schools didn't specify a POI either but I only applied to one and so I am assuming that is who the interview is with....ya know I never really thought about it before...I really really really am now hoping that it's that person and not someone else from the department that got excited about me and invited me without warning. hm.

Seemed like today was a pretty slow day for interviews...hoping tomorrow is better...for everyone's sake! Good luck guys! (also...let's all remember that we are just barely getting to the busy season of receiving interview offers...there is still hope for us all!)
