Well, I had my "conversation" with Syracuse this afternoon. I really feel like I did my best. Now I'm just going to chill and wait. They said they'd get back to me "before the end of the month."

I haven't heard back from any program, so I'm emotionally preparing myself to be shut out. I'm ready for 'em! 

Got the official acceptance from Arizona's RCTE program! But do you think they're gonna rescind my offer for being so awkward during the phone call? God I wanna die.

Congrats to all the Miami Ohio admits!! I've been admitted, too since I'm finishing my MA there now, please feel free to pm me and ask any questions about the program. I expect they will be reaching out to us soon. 

I'm also currently sitting on only rejections, so I know that it can be difficult to read all of the threads and see all of the acceptances rolling in for other people. It's even more frustrating when they are getting accepted to schools that I wouldn't ever have considered applying because they are too high of a reach. It's easy to grow resentful and feel self pity. Don't let others determine your own self worth though. When I start to feel that way, I try to take a break from grad cafe. This whole process can be soul crushing, but grad cafe amplifies it. I think that most of us are overachievers, so our entire identities are called into question when we don't measure up to these other somewhat anonymous forum users. 
The truth is, it's a bit hypocritical to say that people can't feel bad about getting rejected if they already have an acceptance. If it's someone's dream school (or even towards the top of their list), it still sucks.

Part of me wants to tell you to be quiet, but part of me recognizes that those visit days are really important if you are struggling to make a decision.

You will probably be teaching first year composition, so the majority of your students will be 18 year olds. This might not feel like a big age difference to you, but I can guarantee that it feels like it to them. After a while, you will really feel the difference. They are all just so little!
However, I can tell you that I felt exactly the same when I started teaching during the first semester of my MA. I was 22 or 23 and everyone always tells me that I look really young (even now when I'm 29!). I don't want to make any assumptions, but as a woman I also felt like I had to assert my authority more to gain respect. I obsessed over my wardrobe, thought about wearing my hear up, considered wearing my glasses again, insisted that they call me Ms. LastName.
This all changed after my first semester when I realized that you automatically get respect by being the teacher (to some extent). You are in control of their grades, and they know it. I switched to my First name and relaxed substantially. You'll get the feel for it.

I was so confused that I posted in the wrong thread! I switched to French this year, but I was in the Comp Lit batch last year, so I wanted to share here... I got into Rutgers!! For the French Ph.D!! Fellowship and assistantship... !!!!!!!!
