  1. Providing an update: 1/13-15: Interviews with Michigan 1/20: Rejection from Emory 1/28: Rejection from Hopkins (Health Security) 2/1 - Interview with Hopkins (Epi) Still waiting on Columbia. *Fingers crossed and good vibes all around to everyone.* ???
  2. I didn't want to over-dress personally. I just wore a nice sweater/turtleneck. Good luck!!
  3. Has anyone heard from Hopkins or Columbia re: Epi PhDs?
  4. The portal you’re referring to meaning SOPHAS right?
  5. This thought discouraged me from applying, but at the same time, we just have to focus on our own journeys/paths. If it's meant to happen this year, it will! ?
  6. Hi everyone. I hope to know if/when people get offered interviews for a few schools, particularly where I applied?: (1) Columbia (2) Emory (3) Michigan (4) Hopkins Please and thank you!!
  7. I applied to 5 which felt overwhelming enough. Kudos to all of you. edit: didn't know this was for poli sci. quietly leaving the chat...
  8. Hi everyone! If you have decided to attend Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health in Fall 2017 (like me) then feel free to join the Facebook group I just created so we can connect with each other, ask questions, etc. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1527643387247818/ This group is intended to promote connectivity between students admitted to a Master of Public Health, Master of Science, or Master of Healthcare Administration degree programs at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health beginning in September 2017.

  10. ***opens up computer*** ***gets messenger notification that my best friend just received the NSF GRFP*** ***freaks out uncontrollably for her*** ***checks my email*** ***sees the Fulbright notification for Bulgaria Research*** ***sees an A*** ***"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU*****************KKKKK*** In reality, I am incredibly grateful to have made it this far and to have shared the anxiety waiting with all of you. Fingers crossed, I can be promoted!!!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!
  11. OK everyone so if waiting for Fulbright notifications is giving you intense anxiety like me... this video is incredibly inspirational and helps to put things in perspective. "There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”
  12. ***sitting with my email open waiting for Bulgaria notifications to come through*** CONGRATS TO @blakec1988 and @Lab6214- seeing your good news gives me hope!!!
  13. I highly doubt it @catsbloom... this is killing me too haha
  14. I am definitely going to the beach once I get the email. I am working on a set tomorrow in Oceanside, so I am hoping I can see the email while working... go down to the water... listen to the waves of the ocean and to the seagulls... and then open up the email. Regardless of the outcome, I will have the vast expanse of the ocean in front of me. The ocean helps to put things into perspective.
  15. To those of us still waiting- we can make it through the weekend!!!
  16. Realistically speaking, how many more countries can they get through in one afternoon? THIS IS SO EXCITING
  17. @morelani sending you good vibes!! It looks like Norway applicants are usually notified at the end of March/April. I don't think I would be able to wait that long 0.o
  18. So based on last year's data, it looks like Vietnam, Italy, Romania, Greece, Andorra, and Bulgaria applicants should all know very soon... AGHHHHHHHHHH I CANNOT WAIT! (Bulgaria applicant here)
  19. My fellow Bulgaria Fulbright friends @Jess2323 @catsbloom @edon16... so I emailed the Bulgarian Fulbright program officer a few weeks ago and she told me: "This year, we will not conduct interviews with the graduate study grant semi-finalists. We are currently in the selection process, and we will inform IIE of our decision by mid-March, so you should receive a notification from them by the end of March." I am assuming that this notification timeline will be the same for both ETAs and graduate study awards. Either way I WANT TO KNOW ALREADY!!! I have to respond to MPH program decisions by mid-April. I am watching too much Netflix and just binged Sense8 season one in three days and but then found out season 2 does not come out until May! SO MUCH WAITING
  20. That's how I am feeling too! The country I am a semi-finalist for is Bulgaria (which isn't a Muslim country) but I am still anxious on how things will be affected in terms of US-Bulgaria relations and obtaining a visa. On another note... I am having a hard time controlling myself over news of final notifications. I wish I knew now. ahah.
  21. From what I understand on SOPHAS website and from talking to admissions counselors, the programs still have access to view your applications even before you are fully submitted. That doesn't necessarily mean that the programs did see them though! Good luck and I wish you the best!!!
  22. I second this! I don't see a point in switching. I also did a math minor. =) I think that shows that you have the analytical mindset in itself.
