I received an offer from the U of A for the SCCP program on Tuesday and was told from a POI to expect a U of C SACP offer right away. Decision time!

I'm sorry to hear that. I am expecting to get mine soon. I did not receive an interview invite, so I know I will not be attending. For me, this is 50% of the places I have applied this year. So, I know the feeling of disappointment. Hang in there!

Hey All,
For UVIC, from my understanding through discussion with a bunch of people is that the grad secretary sends our invites once the POI requests an applicant to be interviewed. So, if you have received an invitation, that is fantastic but, most people will find out this coming week. Last year they found out the following week as well!
Let's keep each other updated

I would like to know, too. I haven't heard a peep from UBC or UBC-O. I am getting pretty nervous.

What does this mean? I've seen a few UCalgary invites on the results board. Does anyone know what the process is?

Last year I was accepted to Alberta's SCCP program on March 30 with no interview or contact prior to that point

AlbertaUndergrad reacted to mattis in School Psychology?
I would say it's probably slightly easier to get into than a clinical program. However you still need a competitive application. Most people in my program had good grades and many had some applicable research and/or work-related experience. I'm not sure about transferring an MA in school psychology back to Canada, I would say that depends entirely on how the program is structured and on the requirements of provincial licensing boards. But I'd think an APA accredited PhD in school psych from the US in particular would be transferable across the boards. Keep in mind that if you are looking into US programs that school psychology there is very driven by special education law so there are differences between what a school psych looks like in the US and in Canada.

I would definitely start no earlier than September.

My mentors told me to wait till the end of September, ususally by then the POI's have a good idea on funding and whether or not they can take a student. I got into contact with all of mine the first week of October and all were really awesome to respond quickly to let me know what their plans were!

A question for those applying in the fall - when is a good time to email your POI? I was thinking September/October, but wasn't sure.

Hey guys,
Hope everyone is doing great !!
Looks like I'm also in the same boat as rest of you. I am looking forward to apply to a couple of doctoral programs for fall, 2018 in Canada. I will be applying to both I-O psych and educational research, measurement, and evaluation programs though.
Best of luck to everyone.
P.S. I am an international student here in the states, currently enrolled in a master's, and hopefully will be graduating this December

AlbertaUndergrad reacted to JacobW83 in Questions to ask non-POI faculty
I always like to ask faculty (including my POI) why they're passionate about their research specifically, or how they got interested in it. I like hearing people talk about what they're passionate about, and it helps me get to know them better - plus they seem to enjoy discussing it too!
