The schools are only supposed to rank qualified individuals for each track, so if you don't qualify for a track they will not have ranked you for it and thus you would not be matched to it. This is assuming they did it correctly. If by some mistake they ranked you for a track they don't qualify you for, well the match results are binding so....

For example, you cannot say "I will rank you first on my list" or "You are in my top-3 choices"."

Thank you!  This is why it's good to have this forum.  Every year in the past it was on February 28th, and their website says "late February" so I was very confused.

The admin assistant for the mcgill program said they're emailing interview offers March 5th! Don't stress out too much

My Gene Counsel just posted a blog post with GC grad school interview advice from over 20 GCs. I found it to be helpful in preparing for my interviews. The most helpful tip for me, going in with 5 things you want to cover in your interview, kind of like a to-do list. It has helped me talk about a variety of experiences in my answers.

Last year I decided that if I got any interviews I'd tell my boss "By the way, I applied to grad school and I just got an interview and might be getting more and will have to take time off last minute." He has been super supportive about it ever since and was disappointed for me when I didn't get in last year to.  This year he knew ahead of time that March would be crazy for me, and has been really accommodating about me taking time off all over the place.
If you don't feel comfortable telling your boss that you're interviewing, maybe you could just say it was a last minute family vacation that would mean a lot to you? Or if you're taking a bunch of single days you could say it's for a bunch of "appointments" and then hopefully no further questions will be asked.
Most places I'm trying to fly in to after work in the evening before the interview (or leave work a little bit early) and then try to fly back home right after the interview finished.  For both Colorado and Wisconsin I have to stay an extra night, because neither of them have flights to Toronto in the evening.

@soon2beGC and @TAGC Thank you both for your support  You are both clearly very qualified candidates.. I mean, look at those interview lists!
It helps a lot to hear from other candidates about not being discouraged by let-downs from one or two schools. It's really encouraging me to keep a more positive outlook. So I guess we shall make the best of the interviews with programs who are showing interest in us. Best of luck to you both!

I know a bunch of people have already responded to this, but I just want to give my two cents. 
I did have that same experience as you, and I agree with what everyone has said in response, but I just want to add that just because one school decides they don't want to interview you, it doesn't mean that another school won't think you're a great applicant. I didn't get an interview from two of the schools I interviewed with last year, but I did get another interview from the other two. Some schools emphasize one thing more than another, but that doesn't mean that you won't get in somewhere that emphasizes the traits you have.
