  1. @Elisheva is there a different link than what was posted before? I clicked on the GC match page link posted earlier and it still said "more info will be posted here later in may"..
  2. Hello all, I will be a second time applicant for the Fall2018 season as well. This year I applied to 4 schools and interviewed at one, but was too far down the waitlist to get in. I limited myself geographically and cost wise, but this next year I will be expanding both the number of schools and locations. I'm interested in checking out the new Columbia and MGH programs when they officially get accredited and put information up on their websites. The feedback I got from the programs I didn't interview at mainly said two things: 1) they wanted to see more "traditional" advocacy work, like with a crisis line. My previous advocacy work was at the Mexican Embassy in my state teaching ESL classes and working with the civics class, which helps immigrants make various types of appointments, write resumes, apply for jobs, tour/apply to local colleges, and find/utilize other resources. So right now I am looking for "traditional" advocacy opportunites. 2) They weren't a fan of my undergrad biochem grade, which was a C+. It was a tough semester (Biochem + O.Chem + writing intensive Cell Bio + minor classes + being the competetive season for my sport as a D1 athlete...) so I plan to re-take biochem this fall. I am thankful that some schools don't require you to re-submit your GRE's or transcripts if you apply a second time (unless you re-take them or something changes) so that will save me some money when applying again.,
  3. The link to the survey is at the bottom of this link: https://agcpd.org/AdmissionsInfo
  4. Also, the survey for the second chance match said it wasn't going to open until tomorrow but it's actually already open.
  5. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about the true match system they are going to next year, but I have to admit that I do think I will like being told the school I am matched to and not having to sit through 3 days of stressing about wait lists and what not. And the algorithm is supposed to match you to your highest ranked school possible, so all the "top" applicants that people always wait for to choose which school to accept won't be holding up wait lists and such.
  6. @adragonisnoslave I still plan on trying the second match, but I don't have a lot of hope for it.
  7. Officially got news that Augustana is full... looks like I'll be part of the new match system next year
  8. Still nada from my lone school, Augustana... I know the offer calls are out and people have received wait list emails so at this point I'm ready to take it as a rejection and look to next year...
  9. I just want to hear SOMETHING... be it a rejection or a wait list /:
  10. Sounds like my school has made their admissions calls already.. someone reported a waitlist email and I haven't gotten anything yet so who knows how far down the list I am...
  11. Casually panicking over here anytime see an email notification pop up... nobody has reported anything from my school yet.
  12. I don't know if it's good or bad that I'm following everyone's updates.. I'm getting so stressed out waiting to hear something!
  13. Congrats on USF! And congrats to whoever accepted VCU!
  14. @Darwin I slept in as late as I could. I plan on taking my dog to the dog park in a little bit, do some laundry, catch up on Suits, and clean up/organize my apartment because my boyfriend is moving in this week. Baked goods sound good... you may have convinced me to make some brownies today now!
  15. @GCInTraining What a bummer!! Getting appendicitis is one of my biggest fears! I work in the surgery department at a hospital and there are always at least 1 or 2 add-on emergency appendectomy cases every day. I get so paranoid if I ever have any pain in any part of my stomach haha.
  16. @WBGC one thing to consider is that with Genetic Counseling being a career in such high demand, tuition/loan reimbursement is easily a topic of contract negotiation with your future employer. I know more than a handful of graduates who were able to work that into their employment offer. I've also heard a program director talk about how we should be more assertive about this (and about moving expenses!) and that most employers are willing to negotiate the matter because they are in such dire need for GC's.
  17. @Ultrapeaches I think something got messed up in the second spreadsheet.. unless there are now 43,000 admission spots haha Thank you so much for doing this though!!!
  18. So because I needed to do something to distract myself from stressing about the fact that match day is in a little over a week, I have come up with two fun facts for everyone: from going back through the pages of this forum and through the results board, I have determined that in this forum there are at least 58 individual applicants that received at least one interview, and combined we have at least 141 interview slots!
  19. I work until 3pm and am crossing my fingers that it will be a busy day so I don't have time to sit and panic/stress/go crazy. My boyfriend will be waiting on standby to do whatever I want that night. Really crossing my fingers for my top choice.. my boyfriend had already previously talked to his bosses about transferring within the company to any of the cities I would potentially attend school in.. and this week they told him they have a promotion and raise waiting for him if we move to the city my top choice school is in...
  20. I had a dream last night that a school called some of us interviewees back for a second round of interviews and we had to do all sorts of crazy athletic things and it ended in a battle royale for who would get the 8 spots
  21. @mml004 If you go back through the pages of this forum, a lot of people gave short backgrounds about themselves/experience. That might be helpful for you to read through.
  22. I agree, something along the lines of "I would like to hear from all my options before I make my decision". I'm sure most schools expect that response from a majority of the people they call, which is why not a lot of movement happens until day 2. I also agree with adragonisnoslave above.. By match day you should have a ranking of your schools so if you are offered more than one acceptance, you already know that you would prefer one school over the other so the best etiquette there is to turn down the offer from your lower ranked school. This will also help move things along for everybody.
  23. I will be at Augustana, not quite as warm as California!
  24. Same boat here. The three empty weeks between my April 3rd interview and D-Day April 24th are going to be torture!
  25. Some of the smaller programs who only interview 20-25 people might not do auto-emails since it would only be a handful who aren't offered a position/wait list, and they may not get into the office until 8 or 9 am... I'm going to give myself until 10 or 10:30 for email rejections until I let myself think I've got a shot..
