  1. Congrats on the admit! Best of luck to you with the rest of your applications.
  2. Anyone claiming the OSU admit?
  3. https://thegradcafe.com/survey/ Enter "University XYZ Political Science" in the search box to see results.
  4. This makes a lot of sense. I have never thought about the admissions process in this way. Thanks.
  5. I'm starting to worry about what I might find in my inbox when I wake up in the morning.
  6. I'm assuming you applied to Colombia? Best of luck to you.
  7. Two have been accepted now, according to the results page.
  8. Anybody claiming the Columbia acceptance?
  9. Right. I just started the final semester of my undergraduate degree, and the thought of not getting in concerns me. I applied to an MA in Russian and East European Studies as a backup plan, so hopefully that works out.
  10. This makes me nervous!
  11. My guess is that it is a troll. I checked at what point Princeton has announced acceptances in recent years, and never once was a decision made that early.
  12. I don't regret not taking it again (I took it three times, after all) per se. I scored in the 92nd percentile on the Verbal section, and received a 6 on the AW section. My quantitative score, in contrast, is very, very low. I hope that scoring well on 2/3 sections and my quantitative methods training save me. I do wish that I would have prepared differently for the quantitative section, however. I decided to take the test early in the Fall 2017 semester. As the semester got very busy, I was unable to devote a ton of time to studying. I should have attempted the test earlier in the summer. Doing so would have allowed me to prepare more intensely after the fact. I only applied to programs that absolutely fit my research interests, i.e., those that have at least two faculty working in my areas of interest.
  13. Are you willing to share which program?
  14. As an applicant to political science PhD programs, I took the GRE three (yes, three) times. Two out of the three tests had 3 quantitative sections.
  15. This happened to me twice this application cycle. Luckily, the letters were submitted a day later. I immediately contacted the departments and was told that late letters would be accepted. I also sent my letter writer an email reminding him (in a friendly way, of course) that his letter is really important to my application (he is a fairly well-known, well-connected methodologist), and encouraging him to submit his letter as soon as possible.
  16. I feel like my applications to the University of Minnesota and Northwestern University are stronger than others. I know definitively that my quantitative GRE score is in the range necessary for admission. I'm not so sure about other programs, such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
  17. Are you applying to any top 20 programs? I'm applying to three.
  18. I'm in the same boat. While I have extensive quantitative research experience, my quantitative GRE was not good at all. One of my letter writers is a methodologist who happens to be pretty well-connected, so I'm hoping that helps me out.
  19. Thank you. This makes me feel somewhat better. I have what I think (and have been told) is an otherwise strong profile.
  20. I am in the same situation. I have an application due to UT-Austin by midnight!
  21. It does feel strange! These applications have consumed my life for several months!
  22. You are overthinking this. If, as others have noted, you are unsure of whether your school is prestigious/excellent/whatever, then it likely isn't.
  23. I am. I've now submitted all of my applications. What happens now is out of my hands!
