  1. Lol really? And this is how we confuse both current applicants and future applicants who are looking at the board for information!
  2. Hmmm so they might not have a waitlist at all? Or they have an invisible one.
  3. I saw that too, but my guess was that it was accidental/fluke. We haven't heard anything. But it's possible! I don't see any waitlist posts for Brown from previous years...
  4. Womp womp... with five acceptances on the board, I'm pretty sure Brown is a no-go. Disappointing, but hoping to hear good news from other schools this week!
  5. Good to know--Timothy Bewes was one of our POIs so I'm guessing we're probably out of luck there. Thank you so much for the info!
  6. Super curious--by what method/from whom did you get the acceptance?
  7. Holy crap! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
  8. I always joke to my husband that this is the classic trait of an English major/scholar. LOL.
  9. CONGRATULATIONS!! That is fantastic news!
  10. Assuming that Colorado is probably done notifying accepted/waitlisted applicants. It was one of our strongest fits, so a bit disappointing!
  11. Now wouldn’t that be swell! But you are probably right. Probably comp lit. As much as I want to believe...
  12. Brown rejection on the board dated Friday? Is that real...?
  13. Congratulations!!!! I hope that waitlist moves soon!
  14. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! But also, I feel you there. I recently was adopted by my step-dad so I have an easy last name now (well, I will once I update everything), but my previous last name was CONSTANTLY misspelled (and mispronounced). Sometimes even completely altered to something else. Is it really that difficult to just look at the spelling in front of you and copy it?!
  15. Surprised we haven't heard from Brown yet! I really thought it would be Friday or today.
  16. My hometown in Vermont is buried in snow at the moment so I'd imagine it's the same in Ithaca. It's practically spring here in DC--I do NOT miss the winter up there.
  17. Same! Husband was interested in their dual MFA-PhD but we definitely did not want to live in Ithaca (along with other factors).
  18. On the bright side, you won't have to live in upstate NY!
  19. You are on fire! Congratulations!!!
  20. I'm sorry to hear that, but also this is hilarious. Any Delaware mail on your end?
  21. Oh yeah, I was thinking Boulder would be late February/early March--their results are few and far between but I see that one person on the results board was accepted on the 14th last year, which was a Tuesday--so perhaps between tomorrow and Thursday accepted applicants will hear something! So that means I'm hoping this week will be Brown, BU, Yale, Tufts, and Colorado for us. Whoa.
  22. I feel you there--we are East Coasters and ultimately decided not to bother applying anywhere in the deep South, Midwest, California, Texas, etc. or anywhere that wasn't in or very close to a major city because we knew we wouldn't be happy in those places. Honestly, I wouldn't bother going to visit days at schools you know you wouldn't be happy at for 5-6 years of your life if you have other options. Of course, placement, stipend, teaching, etc. are also major factors in the decision. But if you have some schools in a location that you vastly prefer and all other factors are equal (or pretty close to equal), then I'd say don't bother spending the time and money to visit the places that you aren't feeling.
  23. That is super interesting to know! I wonder how Brown and Columbia factor in there, since they are the Ivies that are less...Ivy.
  24. YAYYYYY I LOVE THIS!!! Huge congratulations!!!
  25. My assumption is English both because of the program the applicant noted and because last year it was also phone calls from the DGS for acceptances (Caleb Smith is the current English DGS). Edit: Last year it did appear to span over a few days, however!
