    Thank you! Yeah, I received the letter a few hours after the phone call and was invited to their visit weekend in late February. They're still sending out interview requests, so be on the lookout!

    I can claim one of the South Carolina acceptances. I wasn't expecting to hear back so early. Also got a pretty optimistic response from a POI at another university, so I'm freaking out haha

    Hey all, I'm currently wrapping up my last application of the cycle (Glad to almost be done!) and it's for Cornell's program. Part of the application asks whether I'd like to be considered for a diversity fellowship. The prompt is pretty straightforward but other than the prompt itself there is no other information provided. Is anyone else submitting a diversity essay, and if so how long is/was it? Thanks for the help!

    Last time around I applied to a mix of masters and PhD programs (I was accepted into 2 PhD and 1 MA). I ended up accepting a funded position in an MA program to strengthen my application for next time, hopefully it pays off!

    I'm applying to 7 programs: 1. University of California, Irvine (Submitted) 2. University of Washington (Submitted) 3. University of Iowa (Submitted) 4. University of South Carolina (In-Progress) 5. Cornell University (In-Progress) 6. University of Nebraska, Lincoln (Submitted) 7. University of Massachusetts, Amherst (In-Progress) I'm pretty optimistic with most of my applications, I feel like I have a great fit with these programs. You never know with admission decisions, but I can only put forth the best me possible.

    Hey everyone! This is my second applications cycle. Last time I applied to 5 programs (2 acceptances, 1 acceptance with no funding, 2 rejections). My interests include mathematical sociology, social psychology, network analysis, and education. This time around I'm applying to 7 programs, all sociology: 1. University of California, Irvine 2. University of Washington 3. University of Iowa 4. Cornell University 5. University of South Carolina 6. University of Nebraska, Lincoln 7. University of Massachusetts, Amherst Two down, just five more to go. I feel like I have a pretty solid application, just a little concerned over my GRE score (V:156 Q: 160 AW: 4.0) but I have extensive research experience. Hopefully that compensates for it. Regardless, I'm really excited to continue my work and education in sociology. I noticed a few others on the forum are applying to similar places, would be really awesome to be cohort members (:
