  1. @BrownEukaryote I am one of the messengers too on that reddit post (different username) Maybe we will get to see each other next year... small world
  2. an international student on reddit mentioned having to make the decision without a visit for BU Edit:
  3. I accepted my BU visit weekend in early March and I hope if I hear from Stanford if at all, it won't conflict. But it's BU for BME, I'm not going to pass on that visit.
  4. True, true Normally Stanford has a 75% acceptance rate, I was thinking maybe this meant that anyone offered interviews would for sure get in being that late in March.
  5. I'm still sort of salty with Stanford postponing announcements for interviews till march. I'm sort of hoping we are just interpreting it wrong.
  6. Shame that happened dude... you seem like a smart person. I would have recommended that you should have just applied again to a wider range this time, schools both top and in 20-30 range. I've seen people get into harvard neuroscience without any pub. But maybe this year would be a good time to publish something at a small conference or so just to get your name out, maybe BMES conference. And then just apply again! I would suggest not placing too much weight to the lack of publications. Sometimes it just depends on who is reading your app or the funding that year. Just apply to a wider range this upcoming fall. Don't settle at the current school if you don't want to be there.
  7. Thanks, let's just say i've always lived in cities with not the best bar/dating/online dating scenes and I'm hoping that will change in grad. Although, still waiting to hear from other universities and will decide after visit weekends.
  8. I just got into Boston University and was wondering how the dating life is there? Friends have said online dating is way more active there.
  9. I would think Stanford notifying applicants for interviews so late might hurt them since students will probably have accepted offers, no?
  10. does anyone know if they take multiple days to send invites? otherwise oh well...
  11. Does anyone know chances of Yale acceptance post POI interview? I know it depends on research fit, etc. but does anyone know how many people a POI might interview? thanks
  12. I didn't apply to Penn (idk why, maybe cause I wasn't interested in living there). I didn't apply to JHU either. I visited and just got this pretentious and arrogant vibe unfortunately... those things matter to me but i'm sure not to the majority
  13. I heard from Boston University that I got in today!! One of my top choices. Does anyone know if they do visit weekends? Or maybe I should just ask if I can tour.
  14. @laveritecestla did you hear from Stanford BioE? Just curious why it's red. Have people heard back for interviews already?
  15. how many places do people apply on average to have the best chance of getting in? I applied to 13, a lot of them in top 25 ranked (5 or so in top 10), cause my friend said you really want a phd, just go ahead and apply to as many to give it your best shot getting in somewhere.
  16. Cornell BME Meng has rolling admissions and deadline is May 30. I applied a couple days ago and am wondering if I’m too late. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back and know anything about the program. Thanks
  17. Does anyone know how long Cornell BME Meng program takes to give decision? The deadline is May 30 and I applied a couple days ago. Since it’s rolling and I’m applying late, I don’t know if I’m too late and have a shot at getting in. Any reviews of this program would be helpful information as well. thanks
  18. Yup, I checked my other email. Did not get it. oh well. Life moves on...
  19. I guess german research still not out, also how did you get notified, email?
  20. Yeah, I didn't receive an interview either and my advisors told me there'd be no interview. I also started doing Duolingo but will do a more formal class if I receive the scholarship. @JH437 what city did you apply with/what field?
  21. I don't speak German/never have taken it. Germany doesn't require it but recommends it. I applied for research study grant and all of the scientific community speaks English there. Anyone know how that affects an applicant, particularly with Germany. And my cultural immersion was that I am into stand up comedy, I contacted a comedian there who agreed to take me with him on tours throughout the country. So would be an awesome opportunity if I got the scholarship.
  22. what are some ways you guys said you'd immerse yourself in the culture of your country?
  23. How does the category (field) of your proposal affect your application? I applied to Germany with Engineering for research 1 year proposal but I could have chosen biomedical sciences or something else. Just wondering if it increases in competitiveness or something.
