  1. Hofstra University Facebook group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2078390379073824/
  2. @slpgrad620 Thanks! Congrats to you too!! Yeah, the woman told me I have until Thursday at noon to put down the deposit. i did not receive the email on how to put down the deposit yet, but I received another email stating this: "I just wanted to follow up our phone call to you with an email. We are happy to offer you a spot in our Graduate Speech-Language Pathology Program starting in Fall 2018. You will be receiving an email shortly from Graduate Admissions with instructions for accepting or declining our offer by 4/19/2018 at 12:00pm. In addition, when you do know your decision, it would be great if you could send me an email. Thanks and we hope to see you at Hofstra for the Fall 2018 semester!"
  3. Hello everyone! Two weeks ago I received an email notifying me that I was wait listed at Hofstra for the speech pathology program. I was pretty upset because this was my first choice, but I also really liked LIU Post's program. I started looking into post more- i even met with my graduate advisor and set up my schedule, went to admitted students day, and spoke with a bunch of graduate students. Everyone I spoke to had mostly positive things to say about the program and the professors. Therefore, i was very happy with my second choice...then today i received a phone call from Hofstra telling me i was accepted into their program! Im super grateful but now I am beyond torn between the two schools. Can someone who attended/will be attending either school help me out? Why did you choose this program over another one? Thank you in advance!
  4. I declined my seat at Molloy College, Adelphi, St. Johns university, and took myself off the wait list for sacred heart.
  5. @slpinthemaking12 Hi! when did you hear back from Brooklyn and was it an email??
  6. Hi! So there are two woman who do the interviews.. I had Mrs. Newman. She was very laid back and easy to talk to. She told me right from the beginning that it was a blind interview and she knew nothing about me. She asked me to tell her about myself- try to mention everything you can think of... All of your experience, observations, work, clubs, ....any experiences you have within the field that makes you stand out! Then she based her questions off of my experiences and asked me about clients and work. (again this was not intimidating at all and was very much like a conversation). Towards the end she asked me to pick out a client I had observed and recall the goals the SLP worked on, how the client reacted, and what games/materials were used during the session. Also if you scored under a 4 on the analytical writing section on the GRE or have a lower GPA you are required to complete a writing sample. I heard from my friends that the other lady conducting the interviews (Mrs. Rubenstein I think) is a little more straightforward. I interviewed with her on a Thursday and received my acceptance on the Tuesday after! Oh! also try to write down some questions you have about the program beforehand or commit them to memory! Good Luck
  7. Hi did you interview at brooklyn last thursday at 2pm?? I was in that group!
  8. My first choice is Hofstra, but I haven't heard anything from them yet... I heard they start sending out acceptances/rejections around 3/15. Then after that I am pretty conflicted between LIU Post, St. John's, and Molloy. What schools have you applied to and what are your top schools?!
  9. Thank you! I was just wondering about the pros/cons of their program, how prepared the students felt after graduating and if they were happy with their decision to go there, the populations they treat in-house, and the organization of the program..... Anything you know about the program would be helpful and much appreciated! Thanks again
  10. Does anyone have any info. about St. John's master program?? I haven't heard anything about it and do not know anyone who goes there!
  11. Hi! I received my acceptance from St. Johns yesterday (3/5) at 12:53 pm! Best of luck! Oh and I applied around 1/25
  12. Also, has anyone interviewed at Brooklyn College yet? I am really nervous for that one! Any advice would be appreciated!!
  13. Hi guys! I interviewed at LIU Post yesterday and I think it went really well! I currently go to Molloy College for undergrad and was planning to go there for grad school, but now I am really interested in the graduate program at post. Does anyone go there and can share some info. about the program (likes/dislikes, teachers, etc.) ?
  14. Hi! I also have my interview next thursday (3/8) for Brooklyn! I too am nervous about the writing sample but I agree, I think there will be a prompt or situation that we have to write about. Hopefully it will be simple! I’m also waiting to hear from Hofstra, St. John’s, and Adelphi! Fingers crossed!
  15. Thank you! And yeah their deadline is so early! One of my friends who goes to Hofstra for grad school didn't get accepted into their program until April!..... so it's kinda annoying that you have to put down the deposit for Molloy so early.
  16. Wow that's awesome! Congrats. Where do you currently go to school for undergrad? And which is your top school?
  17. Oh awesome! Congrats on Molloy and Adelphi! I currently go to Molloy and hope to go there for grad school! I have my interview this Friday.
  18. I hear good and bad things about their program. One of my family friends said she loves the program and the professors, but I've heard that the program is disorganized and that they have a lot of group therapy sessions (some people told me they like this and some people don't) ....Where else have you applied?
  19. Three of my friends got accepted into St. John's so far, but i'm still anxiously waiting
  20. Hi! I currently go to Molloy and can share some info... The professor interviewing is very intelligent and professional, yet caring and easy to talk to. Also, my friends who already had their interviews told me that everyone is required to do a quick writing sample and the interview is very much like a conversation!
  21. They asked more personal questions.. and they were very open ended. You could apply your life experiences to them. Also, they gave me one situational question where they described a situation and asked me what I would do. It was pretty simple though!
