Got into UMass Amherst for the statistics PhD today, with guaranteed 5-year funding as well as first-year fellowship. That puts months of stress to an end, finally I'm officially going to grad school!

Reply from UCLA Biostats ... hate the waiting game...

You will receive and email with official notification of our decision on your UCLA Biostat application from UCLA Graduate Division once the review of your application is complete.

I mean, like always, it depends on the program.  I might call Pitt biostat pretty soon, since they sent out some decisions months ago and don't appear to usually send out March decisions, but Columbia stat sent out acceptances and waitlistings recently enough that I wouldn't bother calling (and I also can pretty safely assume a rejection anyways).

I was accepted to Stanford (and everywhere I applied), but I have not yet decided where I'd go. People will start turning down offers in March. There is still hope and good luck!

I have no idea how this happened but I got into University of Washington. I got the email at 12:30am EST after a few glasses of wine and was incredibly confused but so excited.
The good news continued this morning with an acceptance from UCLA.
This is gonna be tough. UW was like my number one school but my wife realllly wants to be in southern California..

Sorry I should have been more clear. I think the wave is just those who got off the waitlist. Our department is relative small (though increasing), but they might have sent out most of their offers in one go (late Jan / early Feb).
Last year, I was one of the 35 accepted students out of over 400 applicants.

Looks like the subject GRE did not matter that much for Berkeley, though, because I just got in today. I also got into UMichigan.

Hi guys, just starting a thread on master applications as I've seen the other topic is more for phd students
Feel free to share your application information.
    For me:
Applied (data science master program): Columbia, Duke, Harvard, U Penn, Northwestern, NYU, CMU, Stanford
    Just got rejection from Upenn

I think interview requests are disseminated to applicants at roughly the same time, but not always. Every school does things differently, but almost all interview requests are usually sent out in Jan and Feb. I was shocked to see that someone already got accepted into UMichigan's PhD program! Makes me a bit nervous as I also applied there (and Harvard).

Hawking was an inspirational figure for me in the sciences. I feel lucky that I was able to see a talk given by him in my first year of my PhD. In addition to his many scientific accomplishments, I was inspired by his perseverance and ability to succeed despite his illness. He has also done a lot of good advocacy for scientists with illnesses.
People are complex beings though. Hawking was not perfect and we would do a disservice to humanity by pretending he was. I think it is important to remember him for his greatness but also to remember that he was a misogynist and mistreated some of those close to him, including his wife. His actions does seem to normalize / add to the idea that if you are brilliant enough, you should be forgiven for your misdeeds and for me, it is uncomfortable that he contributes to the gender problem already prevalent in physics.
One thing doesn't erase the other though. I am sad that our world has lost such a person. But I think it's possible to remember him for both his good deeds and bad. It is hard though and I'm still learning the best way to do this.

This conversation is not productive anymore and if off topic. If someone wants to start a are domestic female students discriminated against thread go ahead, but this conversation no longer has anything to do with the rankings.

Obvious troll. On the fact that Stanford is theoretical and probability focused, it is important to note that all tenure-track positions in mathematics are only 15% female. I don't see you claiming the entire field of mathematics is sexist. (Also, a good plurality of women in math are international, which you think are sub-human, so maybe the ratio is even lower).
Research grants are designed to produce the best quality research, not to satisfy some US-supremacist wet dream. Are you a nationalist? You sound very xenophobic and hateful towards people who didn't happen to be born in this country.
I'm also not sure where you're getting the information that those students at Stanford are international. I see many East Asian style names, but they could very well be U.S. citizens. What is with this racist assumption? That sounds very much like a statement from a disgusting human being to me.
If you hate Asian people so much, you will struggle to find a place in a stat department.

OMG I totally get what you mean. But sometimes I was thinking that..."wait only one school approves of my experience and background?" Haha
I was kinda regretting for not applying to CMU but then I heard that it's pretty applied and I am glad that I got an offer from Yale, most of the professors from which have backgrounds and research experience in Bayesian statistics. If I go there, at least I won't have much arguments with them...XD

@NumStats  It's definitely nerve wracking . I got my first acceptance yesterday after three rejections (HUGE sigh of relief!). You still have a lot of schools to go! All it takes is one.
