  1. I too noticed that when I first sign in I now see the "applicant module." I also noticed when I sign off that for a split second I see this little "status" box. Not at all sure what this means -- if anything.
  2. Feeling hopeless today. Trying to keep faith about a positive outcome but faith is wearing thin.

Lambda, thanks for the kind words! ^_^ You're part of what makes this community awesome!

Wishing you the best, I really hope this cycle turns out favorably for you. And if not, take all the lessons you learned and get all the offers next time around! Hope you can find some time to relax today and take your mind off the waiting.

PsySul, thank you for the encouragement! You're right. Sometimes we win; sometimes we learn.  Thank you, kind folks! The process is grueling and it's hard for people to understand, aside from the people going through it. Sending love, fellow applicants!

  3. Same position. I have a huge workload and yet, I mostly only think about admissions. I'm compulsively checking e-mail, the results page here, and any phone notification. I applied to 4 PhD programs and interviewed at my top choice. Ultimately, I was waitlisted. I hope to hear good news so I get my ticket out of here! Ha. My job is okay - well-paid but boring. I'd trade it in for a graduate stipend any day as long as I get to do work that is personally interesting to me Good luck to you!
  4. Wow. Everyone in the same boat! So happy I found this thread. Literally in the same predicament as everyone - only applied to 4 programs and waitlisted at 1. I keep setting new mental benchmarks for myself: "They'll accept me next week and take me off the list!" Constantly vacillating between being very hopeful that it'll work out and also incredibly anxious that it won't. I wish it wasn't so competitive for those who like to study and research; if we all have the will, there should be a way! I'll continue to study independently and try to stay engaged if I don't get in, but obviously the legitimacy of being at a program/institution will help it feel worthwhile! Good luck to you all, fellow lifelong learners. I hope we find our place!
  5. Thanks for feedback. Still hoping and wishing over here
  6. Thanks for the heads up! Waiting another month will be painful, but better than the alternative of an outright "no." I also do not have favorable outcomes at my other programs so this waitlist is my only prayer. Hate being in limbo. Like you - I'd also want to find another job if this doesn't work out. Good luck to us!
  7. I wonder how long we have to wait to hear back. Hope we hear in March - or is it more likely to hear back in April when responses are due? Any thoughts/indications?
  8. Mind sharing how close your notification was to Apr. 15th? Wondering if there is hope if I will hear in March or if I do have to wait till the bitter end to hear back. ha. Thank you!
  9. Same! Sending you good vibes so we hear good news soon!
  10. My first post! Going through my first (and hopefully only admissions cycle). I only applied to four PhD programs in social-personality areas. I think I have an interesting background but not necessarily training in the areas I'm now proposing to get into. Interviewed at my personal top choice (UC Irvine) and was waitlisted. Based on correspondence, I do think my POI is very excited about me and did recommend me to the adcom committee, but I have a feeling that my research profile is lacking and preventing me from being an outright "yes." Grad director says I've "very high" on the list, so I hope this translates into a spot opening up for me! Trying to keep the faith, as I really do not want to wait for another cycle. Currently in a lifeless job and not in psych research - spending my days wistfully thinking of all the studying and intrinsically motivating work I could do if not in my present soulless position! Good luck to us all <3
