I don't go there but I know about the program. What negative things have you heard?
-
I emailed a private practice I've observed at and asked if they have considered having an intern. It worked out for me that they are expanding their practice now so they needed extra hands and took me in as an administrative assistant/ therapy assistant.

Do people actually get off waitlists?

I emailed the admissions committee to reintroduce myself and remind them of my interest in the program and the response said that they appreciate my continued interest and that I am very high on the list. -
I have an internship (unpaid) with a private practice and a job. Then I plan on reapplying next year. Really hoping I don’t need my back up plan though

Just heard back from my top choice saying I'm "very high" on the waitlist. Only 10 more days to wait and see just how high on the list I am -

The only information I’ve heard about the waitlist is from a professor saying right now my top choice is a little over half filled already -
What to wear to Admitted Students Day
soontobeslp2018 replied to Hbru123's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I think you’d be fine in nice jeans or dress pants and a blouse. Maybe email the department and ask if there’s a specific dress code or something -
Thankfully I already have my backup plan made, along with a to do list for reapplying. But the wait is SO difficult, thankfully the 15th is getting closer and closer

contacting programs
soontobeslp2018 replied to soontobeslp2018's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I thought it was a general financial aid package but when I looked at it they were offering me grants and scholarships (that aren't need based) so it is kind of confusing. But I may reach out in a few weeks to remind them I'm still interested. This school does their acceptances in 4 waves so it'll be a long process with them -
Is anyone else having a hard time focusing on anything besides grad school stuff? The only options I have left are the two schools I'm waitlisted at and I won't hear back until the 15th. I usually don't have a hard time focusing on my class work but recently I've been procrastinating my work to look at my applications and researching my last two options. Any tips on how to ease the stress/ refocus on school?

I emailed a program a week ago about getting a financial aid package without an acceptance offer, but I haven't heard back yet. I really want to go to this program since it is one of the schools I'm waitlisted at (I didn't get accepted anywhere). I just don't want to cross the line between eager/determined and annoying. Should I email them again or just take the silence as my answer for now?

For those of you who are waitlisted, how are you dealing with classmates who have been accepted and keep asking you about your plans? It seems like daily I get asked by classmates if I've been taken off the waitlist anywhere. I'm also starting to notice that I'm becoming more jealous of my classmates who have been accepted/ getting snippy with people who constantly ask me about it. I know I should be happy for my classmates, and I am, but I just wish people were a little more respectful of my privacy since they know I don't have good news yet. I just don't know what to do anymore

What Schools Are You Waiting On!?
soontobeslp2018 replied to speechie2b's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I’ve emailed schools to thank them for still considering my application when I was waitlist and asked a few questions about the waitlist. But that was it. I’ve emailed another school after that email because I got a financial aid package without an acceptance. But if you’re just going to ask when they have your decision ready I wouldn’t email them just for that -
That’s what I would do if I were you

Me too! I’m only waitlisted at 2 schools and rejected everywhere else so I’m crossing my fingers! -

They definitely should. I’d say if you haven’t heard anything by the end of April or early May then reach out to them and ask about your application status -
Re-taking Neuro Online
soontobeslp2018 replied to hellooo's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Fairly certain UNC-Greensboro has a summer course for neuro. It’s taught online for all SLP undergrad students, very doable, I earned an A+. Weekly readings/audio recordings with weekly quizzes, reflections papers and a midterm and final -
The school released their second wave of acceptances and I haven't heard anything yet, and I'm still waiting for the department to email me back from yesterday. I know they still send out one or two more waves that I'll hear soon. My aid package had loans and a need based grant so nothing super special but I'm still hoping it is a good sign, even though I'm losing hope/excitement about this
-
I’m just glad it’seaning towards the positive side! I was talking to a grad student at the school and she said it’s definitely a good sign so now I’m excitedly waiting to hear back from the department (hopefully today or Friday). The comes the hard part of waiting to see if I get into the other school I’m waitlisted at and the deciding between the two

What Schools Are You Waiting On!?
soontobeslp2018 replied to speechie2b's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Still waiting on western Carolina but I got my financial aid package today so I’m hoping my acceptance letter comes by the end of the week -
I just got an email from the financial aid office at a school I am waitlisted at, stating I have a financial aid package. I haven't gotten an acceptance letter yet, but is it safe to assume I'll be accepted off the waitllist? It just seems like a waste of time to put together financial aid packages for people who haven't been accepted yet? Has anyone experienced this, if so did you end up getting in off the waitlist shortly after getting the financial aid email?
