April 15th jitters

It varies by program. I’ve seen people posting that they’ve gotten called and others saying they got an email -

I’m trying but it’s so hard! I was told I’m very high on the list so I should hear from the program ASAP which is nice. Fingers crossed for both of us! -

Thankfully my top program only sends out the number of acceptances that put the program at their target cohort size so I don’t have to worry about them not going to the waitlist. Really hoping to get good news come Monday or Tuesday. I was told I’m very high on the waitlist so I should know ASAP then -

I think most schools have their waitlist ready to start accepting people on Monday. At least I hope they would be prepared but you never know. I was feeling pretty good about getting into one school based off an email I got from the department chair but now the anxiety of “what if everyone accepts their spot” or “what if I’m not as high on the list as I thought” or “what if they run out of spaces for me” is starting to kick in -
Hey guys! For those of you waitlisted, how are you feeling as the 15th gets closer? I’ve been rejected and waitlisted everywhere so I’m feeling very anxious about the 15th. I know I’m not the only one! Feel free to post how you’re feeling below! Fingers crossed we get good news next week

Have any of you had dreams about grad school? I recently had one about a school I’m waitlisted at. In my dream I got an email from the program director saying I was accepted off the waitlist! Just to wake up and find out it wasn’t real. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Do people actually get off waitlists?
soontobeslp2018 replied to HooHooHooHoosiers's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
If I were you I would email those 2 schools and tell them you're still interested (if you are). They might give you some more information! And also, the waitlists at schools change so frequently that you may have been 9/20 before but you could be higher as people withdraw themselves -

Emailing Program Directors??
soontobeslp2018 replied to FutureSLP1212's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I agree with Felice, only email them if you either are waitlisted, or maybe if you haven't heard a response at all. I emailed my top choice, where I'm waitlisted saying I'm still very interested in the program, and that if I'm accepted off the waitlist I will 100% attend. With the April 15th deadline coming up it can't hurt to email if you're waitlisted to keep your name fresh in their minds. I totally understand the desperation, just make sure it doesn't come out in your email. -
I would email them and just tell her you’re still very interested. Tell them they’re your top choice (even if they’re not). I’ve heard that reminding them you’re interested really helps, especially since the 15th is coming up. I did that with one of my schools and they told me I’m “very high” on the waitlist, not sure my email helped that or not. But it’s nice that they said where I stand because it mkes me think they’re confident I’ll get in

Thankfully I emailed my top choice that I’m waitlisted at and told them I’m still very interested and will 100% attend if I get in off the waitlist and they told me I’m “very high” on the list. Which makes me feel like they’re confident I’ll get in off the waitlist, I don’t think they’d give me false hope about it -

I emailed my top choice and they told me roughly where I am on the waitlist. Schools really like hearing that you’re still interested- 439 replies

SLP DECISIONS 2018
soontobeslp2018 replied to HooHooHooHoosiers's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Congrats on your decision! I see you were also accepted to UNC-Greensboro, that's where I go for undergrad and where I'm currently waitlisted, so please let them know ASAP that you're not coming! -
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how the 15th being in a Sunday will effect when waitlisted people will start hearing back. I know it depends on the school but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I just don’t want to wait anymore haha

April 15th on a Sunday?
soontobeslp2018 replied to Applicant4788's topic in The April 15th is this week! Freak-out forum.
I was wondering the same thing! Current students from my department who were accepted from the waitlist said they heard back within 24-48 hours after the April 15th deadline. And I’ve been told that I’m “very high” on the waitlist which makes me more confident that I’ll get in, especially since I haven’t been accepted anywhere yet -
I can’t say much for funding since I don’t go there. But the website shows a prettt good variety of clinical placements, however they do seem fairly specific (bilingual or AAC) so it could be the people you’ve talked to weren’t interested in those areas. Also Durham was hospitals nearby which I’m sure you could get hours done at as well. Maybe reach out to the department and ask about clinic placements to see if it eases your worry about the program

I'm waitlisted at 2 schools and rejected everywhere else. I emailed my top choice reminding them I'm still interested and they replied saying that I'm "very high" on the list. I feel like they'd only say that if they were confident I'd get in off the waitlist. So now I'm waiting pins and needles as I wait for their final decision after the 15th.- 439 replies

Four prereqs in summer...doable?
soontobeslp2018 replied to Heyone's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I definetly think it is doable. Especially because your work schedule is flexible. I would reach out to the professors at the school you plan on taking them at and asking about the work load just to be sure before you make any final decisions. Maybe try to see if you can find a copy of the syllabi online -
Information on these schools?
soontobeslp2018 replied to A-1's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I’m not sure what the GRE scores are for these schools but you may want to retake it and try to raise your verbal and quant score. Your gpa can balance out your GRE scores but I had a similar ones and am struggling to get accepted -

Have you toured either of them? I would make a pros and cons list for both, especially with cost and financial aid offers
