  1. Also you can still get your CCC's as long as the school you graduate from is a candidate from accrediation or accredited already.
  2. I called ASHA about a similar situation with a different school and they told me it is basically unheard of for a program to be taken out of candidate status once they have it. He said if a school were to be revoked their status they would have had to try really hard to not get it because if a school is missing something they will notify them and give them time etc. to fix the problem. Just because a program is new does not mean it is bad. If you look on ASHA website and do research there are A LOT of good well-known school who are candidates for the program. I think since the field is growing more and more schools are trying to offer this as a program. Unless it is actually a bad school I would not rule it out just because it is new. I would do research on the school and how students in the other programs make out.
  3. I also looked at that letter and noticed they already corrected the concern about their accreditation status on their website. I'm assuming they corrected it after they received this letter.
  4. Yes I did this research also! I know someone who is going to the school now and she has said pretty good things overall. Nothing that would be a red flag.
  5. So I have been doing a lot of research on this and as long as the school is a candidate for accreditation or accredited it counts in terms of graduating and becoming ASHA certified etc. when you become an SLP.
  6. lol just saw it! I actually got an email today I got offered an interview for the Spring of 2019 in Austin. Are you in Florida? I am also.
  7. I think that info is wrong because that is what I saw last year also. I did not get into Stockon last year. My verbal score was 153 and my GPA is 3.3
  8. Has anyone got an update on this?
  9. Has anyone heard anything about the University of St. Augustine's new Speech Language Pathology program? or does anyone know how the program is going from students who enrolled this fall? They just got accreditation in my state and are in candidacy status to be ASHA accredited.
  10. I am in the same boat and I had one school tell me I would have to retake those classes to be seriously considered for the next application cycle. I believe it does make a difference and shows you are dedicated to the field, and doing whatever it takes to get into their programs. Do you know what schools offer these courses online though?
  11. I spoke to an enrollment advisor last Friday who told me if my state is not accredited yet but I am accepted what they would do is hold my application for the next cohort in January. I am in Florida and she said they expect to have accreditation for Florida for Fall but if not they would most likely have it for the January cohort.
  12. It varies by state and county. The county I grew up in nearby will not hire you with a bachelors but this county does. They started this program hoping we would get our Masters and be able to continue to work in their county since there is such a shortage of SLPs. I heard about it through a family friend...maybe you could contact the counties? Even in my county only certain schools would hire someone without their Masters and that was up to the school. So everything varies I think...I am sure if you research enough you could find something similar!
  13. My GPA was 3.2 and my GRE scores are average. I have worked as a Bachelor Level SLP in a school for almost a year now and thought that with that, my experience, and strong letters of recommendation that I would get in somewhere. I got denied from two and wait listed for the rest. I am still on the wait list for three schools but I am trying to consider second options. This is my second year applying and I am feeling very discouraged. I am trying to decide if I should put myself through the process again for a third time...it is so draining I honestly do not know if I can do it again. There are a lot of other career choices in similar fields but I am also considering possibly re taking some of my CSD courses that lowered my GPA??? If anyone knows what schools offer CSD courses without declaring an actual major that would be great. I am not giving up hope yet, I just want to get my options open!
