I just wanted to wish everyone good luck and emotional fortitude in the coming months. I didn't make the first couple times I applied, then won unexpectedly. Regardless of your SSHRC outcome, I wish you all the best :)
Re: Adelaide and TooManyQuestions, it's probably more strategic to apply through your current university than to apply directly to SSHRC where you would compete with all applicants that have already out of school.

They haven't gotten back to me and it's been a while I don't want to come off as being bothersome, but to hear that they've gotten back to some applicants within a day is very surprising to me.

I just wanted to send a note to say if you have been awarded the fellowship, congratulations!
If you were not successful this time around, try again. There is a huge amount of many unknown variables, and as sucky as it sounds, there is a huge amount of luck involved. Don't take it personally if you were rejected (been there).
You (We) are better and more valuable than the score on your (our) application. We are all out there doing work we believe in, putting our blood, sweat, and tears into our fields, and we go back over and over no matter how many times we fail because we believe we have something to contribute to society. That's something to be proud of.
I am so proud of all of you!

I just want to send out some good vibes to everyone participating in this forum. I found this thread extremely supportive in such an emotionally charged time. So thank you to all of you!

Ultimately, it’s pretty rare to get one of these awards. And everyone who doesn’t get one of the awards is still doing valuable and interesting work—otherwise we wouldn’t be here. I know that being awarded a SSHRC is partly luck. The differences are so small.

York U is emailing students results. I got the Joseph-Bombardier but I’ve already declined it because I received Vanier, so good luck to those of you on the waitlist!

Today I heard of a workaround to see if an application was successful before we get the physical letters.
On the SSHRC Portal after you log in, under the "create new form" link, there is the option to apply for the "Canada Graduate Scholarships - Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements" grant. Only CGS holders are eligible to apply to this grant. Therefore, its presence should indicate that an application was successful.
We can test this theory out if there are applicants who it does not appear for. Can everyone please check their profiles for this grant?

I emailed SSHRC a few weeks ago and this is what they said: 
"The results will be mailed the last week of April 2018 by mail only". So guess everyone should double check what address they wrote on the application! Good luck everyone! 

Masters SSHRC/CGS results are sent automatically via email on April 1st (as with Vanier), whereas the Ph.D. results are sent by regular snail mail. They're different competitions with different adjudication and administrative processes and timelines.
According to some veteran Ph.D. students in my department and from my experience with colleagues at different universities across the country, the Ph.D. results have pretty consistently only been released at the end of the month of April. I suppose that if you live in Vancouver, up North, or in the U.S., etc., the letter will take longer to arrive from Ottawa as well. I'd say that it's safe to assume that we won't hear anything until the week of April 30th. Anything earlier will just be a welcome surprise :). 

That's brutal. Even the masters have heard back already...

Was getting reno-victed when I made my application, so my options were pretty limited. I wasn't even sure where I would be living the next month when I submitted my application. I should probably make friends with people that have fixed addresses, haha.
