I could go in two directions 1. Phd in Political Theory (I know this is completely different but this is what I wished to from start but couldn't for several reasons) 2. Go into UN (Penn IEDP has a compulsory internship option) I am wondering if it would be a mistake turning Columbia down for Penn. What do you think?

Which would you rank higher?

Since you guys are in education field, which one would you rank higher, Penn GSE or Columbia TC?

Where should I go if I care solely about the reputation and prestige?

I got into Politics and Education at TC. But I also got accepted into Penn's IEDP. Any advice on what to do?

For me, it must have been my SOP and LORs. My SOP was pretty darned good, if I must say so myself. And all of my recommenders knew me quite well. My GPA was less than stellar, although I had a decent GRE score. And I am straight out of undergrad with very little experience. The good news is during your application period, you have a slight control of the two, so everyone still has a shot!

Don't worry, it couldn't have been the only reason you got in. Sure it must have helped but they must have looked at your whole application. So don't undermine yourself and be confident and proud! After all that hard work, you deserve it!

Depends on the program and whether it is lucrative enough to invest in for Oxford. Do you think following Oxford, you could make enough to pay off that debt quickly? If yes, then go for it. The name does matter more than people think. However, for the name, you don't want to be under a financial burden for the majority of your life. Thus, really depends on the program you are going for.

I am assuming you would be turning down the PhD programs after you are awarded the Fulbright? If not, then you are taking a hard gamble. Also, depends on how "good" are the PhD programs you currently have in bag. Are you settling with them?

I got into both of the following programs: - Penn GSE - M.S.Ed. International Education Development Program - Columbia Teachers College - M.A. in Politics and Education I just want to go to a more prestigious program and school and I don't care much for other factors. Does anyone have any insight or advice? Thanks!

I wrote this into manifestation!! I am an international applicant. I woke up at 430am as usual (yes, I know I am slightly off). I checked my email as usual. When I opened the website to check the admission decision, seeing the cute confetti following, I kinda already knew what to expect. Then, of course, I ran around my entire home waking everyone up. I did hear my mum swear. Since then, I have been grinning like crazy, scaring everyone in my periphery. I am going to NYC baby! ?

Here I was, trying to relax on a weekend. Now, I am back to neurotically checking my mail and portal every half hour. Can I please have a break?!?! ??

Worries: Haven't heard a thing from the 6 schools I applied to. I am worried I am going crazy checking my email every half hour, only taking a rest during non-office hours. Consolation (no excitement lol): I applied to Master programs so it's still a little early. Got my fingers crossed!

So, it's gotten worse. From 5 times a day to every hour. The only time I am not doing it is when office hours have closed. smh

oh my god I relate so much!! every semester of undergrad was working my ass off and planning for the next semester and all the semester breaks. Now, I am doing nothing everyday and yet the days pass by so quickly. I can't believe I haven't done anything productive since September and it is going to be February already ? but same, grad school will be tougher and will we be able to cope with it? I guess when we have to, we will. After all, we did manage through undergrad, right? Good luck to us!

SAME! At first even resting was tiring with constant guilt of doing nothing but now I have learned to embrace my free time and enjoy the feeling of no pressure. I now have mixed feelings for grad school. Of course, I would love to get in and start my journey but it will be tough going back into that routine and what if I can't handle the stress? ugh the constant worry over nothing. Are you afraid of the same? What if grad school becomes tougher after a gap year?

I will continue doing what I am currently doing (which is basically nothing since I am in my gap year) but with excitement and happiness, and lack of anxiety.

The thing with me is I applied quite late. just two weeks ago! So even if they sent acceptances last year this time, then I guess I should still not worry too much but HOW CAN'T I??? Uggghh, just tell me already and put me out of my misery.

Oh that's great! I did that during my undergrad years and it was the most fun I had while travelling. Good luck!

Everyone seems to have applied quite early. I applied to 6 schools only two weeks ago and it has been hell since. Doesn't help that I am doing absolutely nothing atm. uggghhh the stress!!!

Worries: Sent 6 applications off two weeks ago and I know nothing is gonna happen till March yet here I am, anxiously checking my portals and mails thrice a day. Have a low GPA of 3.45, GRE AWA of 4.0 and no pubs, yet ambitiously applied to two Ivys. Currently taking a gap year and seriously have NOTHING to do (I mean I lie in bed whole day and play Overwatch or Fortnite with my mum yelling at me to get up and not just be a piece of meat on bed). Excitement: Hard to find any. I am training for a marathon, so I am excited about that I guess..

Applying to: Columbia TC Politics and Education, Penn GSE IEDP Undergrad Institution: Asia, Top 30 World Ranking Undergrad GPA: 3.45 Undergrad Major: Economics and Finance, Minor: Political Science GRE: Quant 166, Verbal 162, AWA 4 Work experience: 1 year, research with NGO I am unsure about my GPA and AWA . How are others doing?
