LOL Just got rejected from Rutgers and three more rejections to go I guess. Applying for the second time for this WGSS PhD was an obvious mistake. Ugh fuck these elitist people and universities and their money. Seriously, some of the WORST people I know get admitted to these programs and that's not ok. Oh well, my ass is leaving the country to pursue something else if I get rejected again this cycle. I'm sure someplace outside the U.S will appreciate my talents. 
that's my rant right here.

This is the second time I apply for WGSS programs and I swear I might get rejected again from all programs this cycle. 
I am pretty much dying waiting for decisions. Seriously never applying for a PhD if I fail at this one more time.  Life probably has wayyyyy better things for me than this corrupt academic system. 
:))))) just wanted to rant on here since this is the Feminist Studies forum and I don't really care.

How are people feeling? I hope the people who got rejected aren't too depressed. Now that I"m finishing up my Masters, I see that getting rejected isn't all a bad thing in every case. For me, if I get rejected from my final place, that will give me time to define my projects much more, and look at more programs and contact people, and find somewhere that will be a better fit. I know some of us are just trying to get the degree, and we are dealing with job insecurity and stuff. But I just wanted to throw that out there... and also trying to remind myself! I just saw someone say they're glad they were rejected bc it allowed them to refine their approach and they ended up getting into a top school. Personally I know my app wasn't what it could be, so I'm trying to see it as an opportunity... xx

I'm currently at Yale in African-American Studies & American Studies and just wanted to update... from what I understand decisions have yet to be released & they're supposed to come out late Feb. Also, if you have any questions about the program, feel free to PM me. 

BE NICE, especially with grades. Don't give any grades you feel you do not want yourself. It's sometimes easy to be consumed by the new powers, trust me.

I think they should have results out soon. I talked to someone there recently and they said the committee would be communicating results in the next two weeks. 

PREACH! Especially since I didn't even know to check the portal - I just did it because one of you said there was a status change! The least they could've done is shoot out a mass email when they knew they had their cohort. Definitely leaving a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. 

Has anyone at all heard from Texas though? If I saw some acceptances already I'd be sure I was out, but there doesn't seem to be word in either direction....
I got my first acceptance today (UIUC Institute of Communications Research!!) so I'm a lot less panicked, but still anxiously awaiting everywhere else...

Yikes! I just logged into my UMN portal and it says my admission is "decided" but their decision isn't posted yet. We'll probably hear back really soon.

Whoops, haven't checked this thread in a while... I got my first rejection earlier this month but today I got my first acceptance!  I never really pictured myself living in the Midwest but it seems like a great fit and their funding offer was really generous so I am very seriously considering it!
I'm applying straight from undergrad (currently in my senior year) so for those of you who are doubting yourselves, don't! It's possible! It seems like the most important factor is the fit of the program, so a nice way to look at it is that at least you'll only get into programs that can support you and all your academic dreams  

But it was a personalized email...no idea if they have sent out the rest of their decisions
