I don’t see anything wrong with a grey suit. This is the exact look I’m going for as well, I don’t see myself wearing all-black like I am planning to work at a financial institution or something ?

I cycled between black and tan blazers during interviews so I was worried about this too, but then saw some color diversity in other interviewees' suit choices as well. As a person who can't walk well in heels, I was also worried that flats were "unprofessional" too but that didn't matter either, I felt professionally dressed.  I'd be more hesitant about wearing something uncomfortable (like shoes) or a SUPER bright color.  If you end up going with black, there will be plenty of people of all genders in all black suits / shoes.

There's also this that the CUDCP puts together, though it doesn't have every school on it! https://teamup.com/ks952632ef38687f3e

I just had a phone interview, so I can lend a hand here. I was asked to elaborate more on experiences I had, as it's hard to sum up everything you do in a CV. I was also asked about specific aspects of my application that weren't ideal - namely that my quant score isn't great. I was asked why I got this score and how my application shows that I can overcome that. So prepare to talk about the good and the not so good of your application.
I also got the chance to hear about the POIs research, her lab, the university, etc. in depth and talk about what I would want to work on should I start in the lab right now.
The most important thing is to just be confident and personable, ask lots of questions to show you're interested and prepared. Good luck!!!

got into 3 schools last year (out of 3 interviews) and here is my advice.
-get good sleep the night before. I missed one of the mini interviews the following day after a horrible night with only a few hours of sleep because I misread the interview schedule. I felt that I had destroyed my chance at ever making it into that school. Fortunately the POI wanted me enough that he gave me a spot.
-bring that dam black folio and make sure you're wearing a black suit jacket.
-write up a list of questions
-rehearse your answers beforehand with multiple people
    That's about it!

I work for a clinical psych professor at University of Nebraska (thought I'm not a grad student there), and he told me that the department wouldn't be sending out notifications until at least Jan 3-4th when we get back from break. Hopefully this puts some people at ease if you haven't heard back from them yet!

I wouldn't recommend it personally.. I know it's nerve-wrecking, but this is a crazy time for PIs too and while some PIs may be kind about it, others may find it annoying. I know the professors I've worked with in the past say they don't like and don't respond to emails until they have something to say, at which time they'll be sending emails themselves. I know it's horrible waiting, but we're all in this together!

SAME. One of my PIs said I'd hear back "by the end of the week" and I'm like  ? ? ? (as if I haven't been checking my email every 30 seconds all week saying "well she said BY the end of the week so maybe Tuesday isn't too early??). At this point I'm not sure if my brain will survive long enough to actually get into a program lol.

Yes! It's actually very common, especially after preliminary phone interviews where the POI is narrowing down the shortlist of in-person interviews. Each PI may go at their own pace before a certain department deadline, and luckily yours was very on top of it. Congrats!!

I've tried to find experiences as related to what I want to study as possible, but as you say, it's not always an easy task to find something in your intended field. Myself, I hope to eventually do research in juvenile justice and child trauma, so I've pursued research in child protection, victim services, and criminology. I couldn't find experiences directly in juvenile justice in my geographical area so I found related paths and pursued the opportunities available to me. My mentor from an R1 school told me the most important thing is that you've had experience engaging in multiple aspects of the research process (i.e. not just data entry, also analysis, literature review, data collection, etc.) and that your experience was somewhere with a good reputation, whether that's a university, a lab, an organization, or just an individual mentor, they should publish quality research. Having publications or conference presentations is a great way to demonstrate your ability as well, so look out for those kinds of opportunities in preparing for the next cycle as well. Best wishes in your application process!

Was this a dream school for you? Would you try applying for this POI again next application round?
If no, I'd say take the loss and not message them (Unless you're really wanting closure/feedback). I personally wouldn't

They only mentioned interview invites, but I doubt rejections will be sent out sooner - it sounded like they've only gone through the first round of looking at applications.

Spoke with a professor today who is on the admissions committee, and just wanted to share this since I know everyone is anxiously anticipating news (maybe you already know this too but figured it might bring some peace of mind).
He reminded me that a lot of factors go into the decision of whether a student gets accepted of not, beyond numbers, letters, GPAs etc. Even when a faculty says he/she is taking a student, sometimes there's already too many students in the lab. If other faculties at the university are more open to taking students that year, the ones who already have a number of students might be less inclined to take on new students. Sometimes the direction of their research is changing, and it's hard to gauge that based on past publications. That being said, you may be a stellar applicant, but things just don't line up during a particular cycle.
TLDR: Keep your heads high! Some factors are out of our control.
