Hi! I feel you 100% I spent a long time looking into the same questions and this is what I got: For #1 The amount of clinical placements will make you look better for jobs, but not THAT much more appealing considering everyone does between 2-4 anyways. The main benefit of doing more clinical placements is that if they are in a hospital/school/private practice you can get job offers through them. For #2 I've heard from SLP's that I've mentored with that the reason it doesn't matter about the ranking is that its an in-demand field so as long as you are qualified with your CCC's and went to an ASHA accredited school, you'll get a job. I've noticed that getting a good CFY or externship depends on if the school has good connections with nearby providers. Again, if you get a good CFY/externship/clinical placement you have a better shot at getting a good job. With that being said, you can still get a job without having extraordinary experience during grad school. You'll just develop your repertoire after grad school. #3, specializations or emphases will make you more marketable for jobs and can be used for leverage when you are negotiating your salary. For example, a specialization in autism, AAC, bilingualism, and multiculturalism, etc. is in demand and can be grounds for a pay raise or a reason for you to be hired over another candidate for a job. I'm still waiting on CSULB too!On the interview they said we would hear back in 2 weeks which would have been yesterday. I saw on here that they're doing a few more interviews (maybe people that couldn't attend 3/7), so I'm guessing we'll hear back by next week.

I sent a few schools emails saying how I'm still interested but I haven't really heard back yet since I just sent them. Has anyone else had any luck emailing once they were waitlisted?

Does anyone know what spot they are on the waitlist or how many people are on it?

I wonder why they haven't contacted everyone yet? Does anyone know when they'll send out more notices?

CSU Fullerton sent out notices late last night

Those people didn't get in. They got the same email as everyone else that basically said that they met university eligibility for admissions and that they're processing the applications. I emailed yesterday and the department said nobody got accepted yet and that it was just an email letting us know that our apps are still getting reviewed.

You got accepted for the fall 2020 cohort? Congrats. I didn't know they were making decisions so early.

I'm also waitlisted at Boulder! I wish they would update the waitlist to reflect people who have already declined.

I emailed SFSU and they said," Thank you for contacting the Division of Graduate Studies. No admission decision has been made on our behalf at this time. The message below was simply to update you that your application is moving through the admissions process, and is currently under review with the Communicative Disorders department."

Do you know if COVID-19 is going to affect the timeline for acceptances to be sent out? Theoretically if schools are shut down, professors/admin can't really work on admissions decisions right?

I'd say Vanderbilt because it's such an AMAZING program plus your loans will be pretty minimal since they're covering all of your tuition anyways. The autism track will make you more attractive for jobs since you have a form of specialization. Vanderbilt also is a college town with LOTS (and I mean LOTS) to do there. You'll easily be able to pay back your loans. Go for the quality of life. Plus, IT'S VANDERBILT. Congratulations man!

I'm visiting Boulder April 3 so I'm just gonna look like a lunatic and wear gloves and a mask. Like you said, you can't just move to a different state without seeing the city!

I'm pretty sure its guaranteed, but maybe that's just because I haven't heard otherwise. Where did you hear that it's limited?

I got an email saying that they are going to host an Open House on Friday March 13 but since coronavirus is a thing they're doing it online via zoom and people have to choose timeslots. I didn't know that they sent out acceptances before the open house though. Congrats to them though.
