  1. Social work and speech are both really good career choices! You shouldn't necessarily look at the cost of the programs since speech pathology has jobs everywhere. You will get a job to pay off those loans, and sometimes loans are unavoidable regardless of the program. Maybe make a pros vs cons list for each profession to see what interests you about both? If speech pathology is your passion I would go with speech pathology. When I was in high school I was interested in social work but I have always known speech pathology had everything I'd ever hoped for in a profession. What's drawing you to social work? If it's only the cost I would go with speech pathology. Both programs are competitive but both professions are also needed. Congratulations on getting into social work programs and the large scholarships you've earned! I would maybe consider branching out your search for speech pathology programs if you aren't geographically bound maybe apply out of state.
  2. Declined my acceptance offer to Indiana State
  3. Is it the Midwestern in downers grove or in arizona?
  4. I don't think places begin to accept people off the waitlist until after April 15th. At least I know that's the case with Elmhurst and the other schools I've applied too. Some do accept people before and have a rolling waitlist. From what I know Elmhurst is not one of them. I did remove myself from the waitlist, so I hope that helps you!
  5. She said there were open houses throughout the week. There was 1 other girl there too and I guess there were more earlier that day
  6. Update: Pointdexter forwarded Hammen my email and she said she's having a virtual open house today at 1 and I can join
  7. Thank you for letting me know! It's a little annoying that she hasn't gotten back to me but at least it'll be up soon
  8. I emailed Pointdexter an hour or two ago. I think that'll be my last email to them, since I never seem to get a response. I've emailed grad admissions once in December, Dr. Hammen twice (once 4 days ago and another time March 9th) and of course today's email. I'm scared if I keep sending emails they'll get annoyed with me, they might already be annoyed since they haven't been responding. Hopefully the waitlist is posted soon! I might remove myself though.
  9. They haven't replied to any of my emails, I'm not sure why. Did you email Dr. Hammen about the waitlist being up? I did when I asked about the open house but I still haven't heard back.
  10. I'm not sure what the prompts are, but if you go to "past programs" on CSDCAS it might let you see them? Good luck!
  11. I haven't heard back yet I'm not sure what's going on with them tbh
  12. A 3.4 GPA isn't low. I have that in the major and it's actually considered average. I heard anything below 3.4 is considered to be on the lower side. I got into about half the schools I applied too with that GPA and wasn't rejected to any.
  13. Just declined my offer to Midwestern in Downers Grove and I will be declining my waitlist spot to Indiana State soon! Good luck to everyone on the waitlist!
  14. I hope she answers soon! This is my second time trying to reach her...did you ever receive a respond about the waitlist?
  15. I don't know of those schools either, but how I narrowed it down was: Cost Cohort Size GA Positions offered If the university has an on campus clinic What sort of clinical placements are offered How is clinical education run Average amount of classes per term Research opportunities Location It helped me to make an excel sheet of every school I applied too listening all the things I was looking for.
  16. Yeah that's a good thing to add too!!
  17. Maybe something like: Good Afternoon/Morning/Evening, My name is ____ and I recently applied to ____ masters program for speech-language pathology. I am emailing you to ask if there is a set date for when admission decisions will be sent out? Thank you for your time,
  18. I did get into 3 and I think I'm going to put my deposit down for Lewis and stay on the waitlists for SXU and GSU since those are my top schools. I did email schools when I was waitlisted too just saying I'm still interested in possibly attending.
  19. I would email! I haven't had much luck reaching the one at Indiana State though...
  20. I just emailed Dr. Hammen about the open house! I also asked about when the waitlist will be available to view.
  21. I love this idea! I made something similar but not as well detailed as yours for the schools I applied too. I hope this helps future applicants!! I was going to include GPA and GRE ranges but that's listed on EdFind and it changes every year depending on the applicant pool. Having this chart for the schools I applied too really helped me narrow down what my top choices were and basic info of what the schools I applied to offer. I hope my chart helps others applying to any of the same programs!
  22. No I didn't. I wonder if they forgot about me or maybe I'm low on the waitlist?
  23. I thought about emailing Pointdexter since she's the one who contacted me about the video link
  24. You probably are still on it! I think to be removed you had to fill out that survey they sent in the waitlist email. I'd hate to be annoying by emailing them again but I'm thinking about it.
