  1. I was waitlisted this morning haha. Congratulations!! Maybe they took the interview away?
  2. I wore dress plants, blazer, blouse, leather flats that I wear when I'm in clinic, and no purse. I don't really remember anyone having a purse but if you want to bring one maybe bring a smaller one. Good luck!
  3. It's pretty common and yeah it sucks losing a non-refundable deposit and putting another one down but if you really want to go to the other school you should do it. That way whoever is next on the waitlist can have your spot if you choose to withdraw your deposit.
  4. I heard back from my undergrad institution yesterday and was waitlisted. I'm disappointed but not surprised because they accepted 8 students from direct admit and focus more on stats than experiences. I'm a little hurt that my professors didn't take into how involved I was through NSSLHA, volunteering, research, clinical experiences, etc. They might have only accepted 5 more students who didn't get direct admit. It just sucks because I know my stats aren't bad since I got into 3 other schools and interviewed at one yesterday too. What are the chances of getting accepted off the waitlisted at your undergrad school? I feel like they'll want to accept people who didn't go there for undergrad off the waitlist since they can't take all their own students.
  5. I wouldn't email, but try not to worry. So many qualifying applicants apply I'm sure they're just getting all their dates in order and sendings them in rounds or waves rather than all at once.
  6. I've only heard from the schools with rolling admissions so only 2 of the 7! It's not common for SLP programs to have rolling admission so the waiting game continues ?
  7. Thank you!! So this is for the one in IL I don't know if AZ is the same but you get paired with a partner and you both meet with a professor for a professional interview I can't remember those questions but it was about ethics and how you'd handle a conflict or disagreement or go about client treatment etc. The personal interview was tough but I remember being asked would you rather be a leader that's revered or feared, put integrity, compassion, and intelligence in order and explain the ranking, and what do you want me to remember about you/why do you wanna be an SLP
  8. Hi everyone! So I know ISU extended their deadline to February 1st. But I got an email letting me know my video link wasn't working a week ago, and I sent them the correct link but haven't received a confirmation response. I also saw on their website that we'd get interview dates after January 31st. Has anyone heard back yet? If so when'd you hear back?
  9. It's nerve-racking but not too bad! The personal is a little tougher than the professional
  10. I did get an intent to admit letter from Lewis! They're still in the accreditation process and won't hear back from CAA till end of February/Early March. All you need is 1! Had my interview at Midwestern last week and praying that went well. Trying not to stress too much now, you can only control what you can after all
  11. What's your CSD GPA? If it's a 3.4 or higher you might be okay with a good GRE. SXU requires a 3.2 in either CSD or commutative (depending on the competitiveness of that years cycle sometimes both) to be considered. Most schools want a 300 but anything in the 290s is good too. Or even a 288 or higher. Having a ton of experience especially research helps too.
  12. Definitely! Congratulations on yours too! I did hear that it's a lot of situational type questions but I'll be back after my interview!
  13. Does all this still apply?? I have my interview coming up ?
  14. I haven't gotten one from SXU either, I've only gotten confirmations from 3 and one of the schools I applied to that didn't give me one offered me an interview so I think we're okay!
  15. Definitely! Good luck!!
  16. I do know people who got into programs with the same scores so I do think you'll be okay since I really don't think your GPA is bad. I think if you pick less competitive schools that not many people apply too that'll help too and if you can get out of state definitely do that too since some schools reserve spots for out of state students. It sounds like you have really good experiences which will definitely give you an advantage
  17. I'm an undergrad at SXU right now and honestly your GRE is amazing I don't think you'll have issues getting into SXU, NIU, or Midwestern. I don't know much about the other schools though.
  18. I know 3 people who had that exact GPA and got in!! 2 off the waitlist 1 directly but that doesn't matter because they were clearly on the higher side of the waitlist to get an offer. Use magoosh that helped me so much it boosted my score by 4 points. I would look into different programs and getting involved in NSSLHA or research or any relevant experience is always huge.
  19. 3.4 is good! What did you get on the writing portion of the GRE? Is a 3.4 your major GPA or overall?
  20. Congrats!! What was your GPA in the major if you don't mind me asking???
  21. I can read it over if you'd like!
  22. Most schools focus on your GPA in the major, but they still take into account your overall. I don't really know how things work for that particular program though! You have a lot of really good experience by the sounds of it, but since your major GPA isn't low (it's actually really really good!) I would try not to worry too much. Especially if your GRE score balances it out
  23. I don't think the GRE is bad. The writing is great! People say get a +300 but honestly every person I've known has gotten in with high 280s-307 on the GRE. It sounds like you have great experience which will lead to an excellent personal statement if you talk up those things and you mention why your GPA isn't as high. How many CSD classes do you have left? 1 C shouldn't hurt your chances as long as you keep the other grades up. Schools mostly care about your CSD GPA but it's not the end of the road if your commutative is higher than your CSD GPA, I know a lot of people who still got in when that was the case. I would control what you can and try your best in the courses you have left. It all depends on where you want to apply and who else is applying. So much depends on the applicant pool each year too. I would try to bring your GPA as close to a 3.4 as you can.
  24. I did the same! I also noticed other people doing it this way as well.
