  1. Does anyone know how much a year of liability insurance is for grad school? Trying to budget for next year...
  2. Sorry to bother everyone in this thread again, but does anyone happen to know when they are sending out waitlist rankings/rejections? I realize that not hearing anything at this point is most likely a rejection, but I'd like to see the actual decision in writing at some point...
  3. Yes, I just don't think the program itself is worth that much to me. I wasn't incredibly impressed at the open house and if I'm going to spend $100k on a graduate education then I want to absolutely love the school and program. I think the school is a great option for some people, I have met some alumni who loved it. It just isn't the right choice for me.
  4. Honestly, I wouldn't count on it. They already admitted twice the number of people then they need to fill a class. Only if more than 50% decline would they start pulling from the waitlist. Although, technically anything is possible. One thing you can do is send a letter of continued interest to the program director. Draw attention to your application again and talk about why you might be a good fit for them. It's a long shot but you have nothing to lose at this point
  5. I am in the exact same boat, I have a 3.7 cumulative and 3.67 in the major with a 310 v+q on the GRE and I only got accepted to one school, which I will de declining due to cost. I also have a pretty good breadth of volunteer experiences and extracurriculars from my undergrad. I am on 2 waitlists but it doesn't look great for either. It is frustrating to feel like you are a decently qualified candidate and then get heartbroken by this process. I am planning on taking 2 years to build up my resume even more, then reapply for Fall of 2021. I really don't know what else to do because like you my GPA is set in stone at this point and I don't think I will be able to significantly improve my GRE scores. Thank you for sharing your experience, it made me feel a little bit better knowing there are others in a similar situation as I am.
  6. I will be declining an admission at UoP and a waitlist spot at Hawaii. If anyone is declining their spot at SFSU please post about it!
  7. I haven't received anything . Congratulations on your admission! Do you plan on accepting the offer?
  8. Is anyone else planning on attending the open house at University of the Pacific? And are you bringing parents?
  9. Did anyone who interviewed with SF State happen to ask when they would be sending out decisions?
  10. This is the SLP sub forum lol I have been wondering about the timeline as well. I am one of those people that needs a little hand holding before I feel confident so getting in and out of grad school so quickly definitely scares me a bit. I did talk to some recent alum from the accelerated program that I applied to and they didn't seem to express any concern about not being prepared, so that makes me feel a little better going into it, but it probably varies by school.
  11. Oh wow, I'm not until late afternoon. I wonder how many people were invited to interview.
  12. I will be at the Monday interview as well! I am hoping it will be a little less nerve wracking to be around peers in a group setting.
  13. Has anyone heard anything from Hawaii? I had an interview weeks ago and haven't heard anything since. There are barely any posts about the program on the forum or results page. I am hoping that means less competition since they accept so few people anyways, but who knows. I thought they said they would be sending out decisions this week, but I was so nervous during the interview I barely remember what they said
  14. I am applying to teach english abroad! I know I'll need some time to heal from the heartbreak of rejection if I don't get in anywhere, and I think it will be a good resume builder for if I decide to apply again, especially if I am able to become fluent in another language. Hopefully I won't need a Plan B though ?
  15. I believe if your portal has a rejection, that is probably going to be the final result, at least that is what I am assuming for myself. I think they probably didn't want to send anything official out yet because they still have applications to get through and want to give themselves some wiggle room to make changes if need be, but overall I think if it was already inputted in the system to accidentally be sent out, its probably not going to change.
  16. Last year they sent out acceptances and rejections starting on a Friday, so maybe we'll hear tomorrow. Good luck everyone!
  17. Thanks for the update. Can I ask how you found that out? From what I can see only 1 person has received a decision so far this cycle.
  18. Anyone hear anything from San Diego State or University of the Pacific? Both schools sent out their decisions around this time last year but I haven't seen anything posted on grad cafe or heard anything. Just curious if anyone has reached out to either department or gotten any updates since applying. I did see on SDSU's website they state that: "Admission decisions will be made by mid-March, and you will be notified via e-mail by early April." That seems super late to me, I hope they go out sooner than that.
  19. Looks like on the results page one person got accepted. But other than that looks like no news so far. Last year admissions came out around this time so I'm hoping for good news soon. Good Luck!
  20. It hasn't always been there, I uploaded my updated transcripts last week and those weren't options. Trying not to read too much into it though. Usually I would agree to assume the worst but there's still only one acceptance reported, which makes me think there may still be reason to hope? Either way I think we'll find out tomorrow
  21. I'm still waiting to hear as well. I find it interesting that they seem to have sent out waitlist notifications before acceptances/rejections. Or at least that's what it looks like from the grad cafe results page. Hopefully we get good news soon!
  22. Thank you everyone for all the supportive replies! I didn't mean for this to be a total self-pity post, I am just having one of those nights were the not knowing is killing me. I feel like most people in this field are Type A personalities that don't love surprises/uncertainty, so I figured a lot of you would relate. I was honestly more relieved than disappointed when I got my first rejection, just because I finally had an answer from somewhere. Most the schools that I haven't heard from haven't sent out anything to any other applicants either as far as I can tell, so there is definitely hope. I'm just envious of everyone that already has acceptances! Congrats to all of you that do, and good luck to those still waiting
  23. I applied to 8 schools, and I'd say at least 4 were way out of my league. I figured if why not go for it and see what happens right? (I blame my parents for being too blindly supportive lol) But I have only had 2 interviews and 1 rejection so far. The fear that I won't get in anywhere is really starting to get to me. I have a decent GPA, but not spectacular, same with GRE scores. I just feel like I'm a pretty average applicant all around. I do have a few schools that I feel like I am in the ballpark of accepted applicant stats from previous years, but this process is so competitive I feel like there are no true "safety" schools, at least with my profile.
  24. I just got an email I was invited to interview in early March.
