  1. I think it's between late january and early feb. I would suggest searching the results database and finding out what your schools have done in the past.
  2. Woohoo! It's almost time for everything to be submitted. It's scary and great at the same time. I submitted all my applications this past weekend. Just one one more app that's not due until Feb. to do.
  3. I did my undergrad at one of those schools. Those are stepping stone programs. I would hope they would expect people to not have the best GPA. The school is there to help you along the way to your PhD.
  4. Mr. Tea, I really just want to get it because I have already finished one year of a program where I did research I may be a 3rd author on a publication with a great psychologist. There is a program at University of North Dakota who has a MA in forensic psychology. I like this program because if I kept with my studies, I would have applied to their PhD program. Additionally, they have a two week capstone project when you fly out to campus and work with professors and other students. I really just want to finish my degree without taking time off from trying to find a job.
  5. I just finished my first year in a psychology MA program. I did not receive funding for my second year and I moved home because I did not want to take out 30k in one year. I am now looking at online MA degrees that state universities conduct, not the ones from U Phoenix or other schools like that. Has anyone had any experience with these online MA degrees? I really just want to finish my MA degree and have it on my resume. I am most likely going to work outside the psychology realm but really want the degree. Thoughts?
  6. Thank you so much for this post. I applied there last year and was waitlisted, then rejected. I will apply there next year after I finish my master's degree. This information is very helpful.
  7. I think fit should be more important than GRE scores. I had a low GRE schools and was waitlisted at three PhD programs because of my fit and research experience.
  8. I don't think a MA is a bad thing. I am currently in the MA program and I have spoken with Doc programs I was waitlisted at and they say it makes me more competitive because I will have to more years of research experience under my belt when I apply. If you get into a MA program, I say go for it.
  9. It might be good to get the professor to write the letter. Even though you have not done any research with that prof, they can write about your classroom work. You dont want a student who can do research but never shows up to class and is late. It is good to get a prof who has had you in class.
  10. Ball State has a Masters degree with a professor who looks at jury decision making and eyewitness testimony.
  11. Hey everyone! I am interested in applying for a NSF graduate research fellowship, but I really don't think I have what it takes. How are the grants determined? I am so used to looking at GPA and GRE stats, but the NSF doesn't look at the GRE. How is one competitive for a the NSF grant? I would be applying for the psychology one and I feel there would be a lot better candidates out there. The worst they can say is no
  12. I emailed all my POIs because most of my programs the POI accepted the student. It would still be nice to contact them and let them know you are interested. When they look at your application, they will remember your name more than other candidates who never contacted them.
  13. I would suggest that you apply to both. I applied to both and was wait listed at 3 PhD programs. I ended up going to a Masters program, but I hope to have better chances at those three schools when I get done with my masters.
  14. Thank you so much for your help!!!
  15. I am starting my masters in the fall in psychology. I am thinking about applying to law school after my masters. I just bought a LSAT study book. Does anyone have any tips for studying or which books help them. I don't have enough money to take a course, so it is all study books for me.
  16. You could just email your POI and ask them directly. Then, when they say it was meant for you, you can accept. After accepting, you can start planning trips there and looking for housing. So much easier to ask.
  17. You should contact that professor again and find out your fate
  18. Anyone accepted to BSU? I have already accepted the offer and am starting to look for housing. Just wanted to see if there was anyone else out there.
  19. Hey! I have been accepted at Ball State. I was wondering if anyone has lived there before. If so, where would a good place to live? Also, how is campus? Any information you want to give would also be nice. Thanks
  20. But, I cant call on April 16 when I have to accepted somewhere by the 15th. Some of these students have known for over a month now. So, it seems weird that they would take 2 months to decide.
  21. I would never want to own anything until a good job with great job security. I would be afraid that I might need to move to take a dream job. I would vote for an apartment, but that is just me.
  22. Maybe since Feb 2 the other two letters have come in. Yes, call the school and ask.
  23. I have been wait listed at 2 PhD programs. Have you heard of people wait until April 15 to decide on a PhD program? I know many people are making their decisions right now. It would suck if they waited until April 15 to officially accept or decline.
