I would assume not having a COMD BA/BS wouldn't hinder someone too much in the long run since it's becoming more common for programs to accept out-of-fielders (and thus more common for employers to hire folks w/o COMD UG degrees). I'm guessing it also depends on the specific employer's criteria, but it can't hurt to look into it further if you're interested! Wish I had more info to offer.

Hi! I completed USU's 2nd Bachelor's program and the schools I was accepted/denied to are listed in my signature. I can't recommend USU's program highly enough! It made more sense to me to get a COMD degree rather than try and complete all of the individual requirements for Cal State schools (although I think some schools like CSUSM still want you to have all of their class equivalents completed regardless of whether you have a degree- hopefully I'm not remembering incorrectly), but I recognize not everyone is able to manage that financially. I had a COMD minor from my first degree, however, so I only had to take 10 classes at USU instead of the usual 12. I also have a friend who is a current SLP in a school district who got a significant pay raise for having a Bachelor's degree in COMD so it was worth it for her to do USU's program in the long run, but I'm not sure whether that's an exception. In regards to the ASHA requirements, usually you'll have to check with the individual program to see if your classes qualify if you're unsure. I hope this is helpful!

Hi all! I'm committed to graduate school, however, I'm pretty bored right now since my classes have ended. I know it's suuuuper early but if anyone would like help with looking over CVs/SOPs or anything related feel free to let me know! I can't promise expert advice but if you need an extra set of eyes I'm here. I remember how stressful the application process was and I wouldn't have gotten through it without this community so I'd love to give back if I can! Best of luck!

I will likely be declining CU Boulder tomorrow! -
I was accepted but haven't been able to find any info on the program or speak to any current or past students. None of the faculty have responded to my emails either. It's been really frustrating and I'm feeling like I may just have to write it off given the deadline to commit is in a week. If anyone would be willing to message me to chat about it I would love that!!!

Just declined Portland State! Hope that helps someone out. -
Hi everyone, I want to show my LOR writers some appreciation but given what is happening right now I'm not sure how other than a nice email. Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of an instacart gift card since everyone is stuck inside right now and it can be hard to get groceries, or maybe just waiting til this is all over to get them something. But that could be quite a while...

I just heard back as well- crazy how that works! I was so anxious today haha. Thank you both for sharing!

I'm sorry to hear it I definitely know the feeling. Just always gotta remind myself that every program is looking for something different and it's not about whether you're "enough" (you are!)

Is anyone else waiting to hear from Cal State LA? They said they were going to notify us today...
