  1. Hello, First year grad student here - yes it is very possible! I was Linguistics and Psych undergrad and now I'm attending Penn State's grad program (they were one of the few programs I applied to who accepted out of field students). Very happy and very grateful! Good luck to you in your application process!
  2. Will you all be looking for apartments or living in dorms??
  3. I wasn't able to attend since I am still in class in California. Did anyone attend the open house and could provide any info/updates??
  4. I'm going to enter my first year of graduate school at Penn State Fall 2019 and have just been offered a Research Assistantship that will begin then as well. It will be approximately 20 hours/week. I just wanted some perspectives or past experiences that people have had in regards to balancing school and work. Thank you!
  5. I saw one from last year I think but there weren't many members and I haven't seen any for this year. I would suggest looking into the Penn State Housing facebook pages; I've seen a few grad students post on there. Currently, I'm thinking about on campus grad housing, but if I change my mind, I'll let you know!
  6. If anyone attends, could you post any relevant info? Thank you!!
  7. Haven't received anything about funding yet... has anyone accepted the offer? Have you received anything about registration for classes? I received an email about pre-registration but haven't received account information yet for the student portal.
  8. I'm also out of field and applied for Fall 2019. I applied to 3 graduate programs that include prerequisites: Penn State, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, GWU. I was rejected from UIUC and accepted to the other two. I started my research from the US News Ranking and kind of went down the list to see which schools would accept out of fielders and of those, which I'd be interested in attending if I was accepted. Also, ASHA EdFind was pretty helpful in terms of stats for GPA and acceptance percentages.
  9. I've heard this program is quite competitive to get into, so you should be proud of yourself! Best of luck to you!!
  10. thank you so much! you have no idea how much this helped me haha good luck with everything!
  11. Your response was super helpful! I would reaaally appreciate it if you could update me about what your visit is like, thank you so much!
  12. @cakcak @Rezzy S. thank you guys for your suggestions!!
  13. @CathyTsao I'm still deciding as I have been accepted to a graduate program that has the prerequisites included. It's a tough decision! Will you be attending?
  14. @SopranoSLP your answer helped so much, thank you! I was also wondering--If you were to do it over again and had the chance to go straight to a graduate program (that had the prerequisites within it) after undergrad, would you attend that school instead of doing a postbac and then applying again? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!!
  15. I'm having a bit of a hard time deciding and would like to get some other people's input or advice! For context, I'm an out-of-fielder. I've been accepted to the Penn State Grad program (which would include all the prerequisite classes that I need) as well as the University of Washington Post Bac Program. Both are amazing schools and I'm so excited, but I'm having trouble deciding whether the UW program is worth it, given that I would need to go through the application process again (I am particularly worried that since I will only have 2 quarters with the professors, I will not have great LORs) Has anyone gone through a similar process or have been to these programs and could give some insight? Thank you in advance!!!
  16. @CathyTsao Hi, I received an email earlier today with a decision letter!
  17. @SopranoSLP Hi! I was just accepted into the UW Post Bac program, and I see that you also did a Post Bac yourself...did you take a gap year in between Post Bac and graduate school or did you apply straight away? I understand that the UW post bac program starts in the summer and that only leave 2 quarters to get to know professors for LORs before the application process starts for grad schools, so I'm a little worried about this.
  18. Hi! I was accepted off the waitlist a couple weeks after I received notice about being on the waitlist. I was definitely surprised since I didn't send in any additional documents!
  19. Thanks for starting this thread! I will most likely be attending Fall 2019 for the Speech Language Pathology Master's program.
  20. I think results for the UW SLP grad program came out today but has anyone heard about when post bacc results will come out??
  21. I'm curious about funding as well. Do you know when that will be released?
  22. It's already been 2 weeks since I got accepted but I still can't believe it! I saw 4-5 other acceptances in GradCafe Results. Is there a Facebook page or anything??
