  1. My thinking exactly! And thank you! I’m honestly not sure what I’ll decide if I happen to be accepted. On one hand I really want to but at the same time their out of state tuition is kind of expensive and when I asked they don’t really offer any GA/TA positions.
  2. Hey everyone! I had my interview today. Definitely laid back like @nguyen16041 mentioned so that’s again for that heads up! I was informed though that they are hoping to have decisions out by next week. Love how fast things seem to be going with them. Best of luck everyone!!
  3. Do you think maybe you might second guess yourself? I did this constantly for a lot of classes. During the exams I knew the answer but then I’d get in my own head and end up answering wrong. I understand not having a lot of time to re-take a class. I ended up retaking mine during the summer session otherwise I would’ve been set back an extra semester. I’m positive though you’ll pull through with that B. I’m rooting for you!
  4. Hi! So I actually had a C- in a CSD class and had to take it again where I then got a B. Some schools (I know I applied I one that did) penalize you for retaking a class. Overall I had mostly Bs and maybe 3 As when I graduated. I think the good thing for you is you have so many classes you can take. So the C might not be the best thing but your other classes will balance it out. I don’t know how much longer you have left for class but if your final is worth more or there’s any extra credit you can take advantage of put your absolute best effort forward to try and get that B. I think at least then you can honestly say to yourself you did your best. I know I did this many times for a lot of classes, not just the CSD ones. You can also always explain in your personal statement if you want why you struggled with that class/had a lower grade. I hope this helps!
  5. Great! Do you know if there’s a Facebook group? I haven’t seen anyone else say they were accepted
  6. Wow that is shocking! If only it could be that easy now lol. I did find this old thread though: It looks like based on this discussion we shouldn’t have any problems.
  7. Hi! I took a year off as well before going back this fall and I am 100% feeling the same way you do. I definitely feel unprepared but I guess a small blessing for me is that I have to take pre reqs this summer for the school I chose. Hopefully those classes will get me back in the proper mindset! You’re definitely not alone though! Congrats on getting in!
  8. I was thinking the same thing while I was applying. I’m honestly not sure if there would be potential problems or concerns but I can try and ask them at the end of my interview if I have time/remember!
  9. Hi! I have a list going and was going to make a separate thread but I’ll post here. This is just what I found on the Edfind site if anyone knows whether a school I listed doesn’t actually have spring admission let me know and I’ll edit the post! University of Rhode Island University of Central Florida Alabam A&M Baylor University University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences University of Texas at Dallas University of Texas HSC San Antonio University of Northern Iowa Eastern New Mexico University Clarion University of Pennsylvania (spring & summer) College of Saint Rose Eastern Michigan University Kansas State University (spring & summer) Kent State University LIU Brooklyn LIU Post Louisian State University and A&M College New York University (spring & summer) Nova Southeastern University (spring & summer) Slaus University Southeast Louisiana University
  10. I was notified for an interview quickly as well so my line of thinking is the same as yours that it’ll be quick. Fingers crossed! Thank you!! Hopefully you’ll hear some good news from them soon!
  11. I’ve accepted ENMU and was wondering if anyone else has?
  12. Thank you SO MUCH!! This definitely makes me feel less worried! ? Out of curiosity did they mention how long you could expect to hear a decision?
  13. I was hoping for an earlier interview but unfortunately I couldn’t schedule until next Monday. Hoping someone who has a interview scheduled this week sees this and offers us some insight before our respective interviews! Best of luck to you!
  14. I was wondering if there’s a difference between being an alternate or being waitlisted? I would think it’s the same but can’t be sure so if anyone has any insight it would be appreciated!
  15. Hi! While I think internships and research experience look good on your application I wouldn’t necessarily think they are make or break for getting into grad school. If your school has any research opportunities that you can take advantage of your senior year I would at least try to get in. It’s never too late! I would also say it doesn’t exclusively have to be in communication disorders. Even experience in a related field is still experience. (I did one semester in a psychology lab. Only one because I don’t exactly like the research aspect too much) An alternative: if you still feel you need to show some experience you might be to make up for it by doing more than the minimum 25 observation hours? I hope this helps!
  16. It’s a frustration with the extended deadline as well as waiting 3 months for any type of answer. (I called just to confirm my status is still out to department) As the user above mentioned I worked hard to make that original deadline and they extended it after the fact. And you’re right had I been in the same position as you I would’ve been glad the deadline was extended. And yes right again with a second wave of acceptances after the 15th as well as some being rejected then later accepted but I think they can be more organzied about all of it. Congratulations on your acceptance though ?
  17. Yes, I saw that as well. My issue is with how they went about everything. I’m trying not to sound petty so I won’t go into detail but I think they could’ve been more organized and structured with one set deadline as well as actually notifying applicants of a waitlist status. I’m sure many other schools do it too but for those of us waiting it’s frustrating.
  18. Hi! I was wondering if you ever ended up hearing from Kingsville? I applied before their original deadline too and never heard anything which I guess means I’m waitlisted or about to be rejected since April 15th is right around the corner. I’m asking because I saw someone post in the results page recently they applied for the March deadline and heard back relatively quick that they were accepted. At this point I just want to know their decision since it’s about to be 3 months and the way they went about this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
  19. I applied to 11. Two of which had incomplete applications because my transcripts weren’t received until after the deadline. I applied to this many due to a lower GPA and GRE score. Cumulative: 3.1 Major: 3.3. GRE V: 151 Q: 141 AW: 4.0. I was denied to 4 of the programs not factoring the ones that were invalid. They were my “reach” schools but on the other hand I was accepted at one and waitlisted at another which I wasn’t expecting at all. And unfortunately still waiting to hear from 3 schools. Definitely a lot of money spent but for me it was well worth it. The Edfind site is a lifesaver and when deciding where to apply it will be your best friend. There’s obviously no right or wrong answer for how many schools to apply to. Just remain confident in the schools you choose to apply to and remain positive!
  20. I just looked it’s actually a relatively new post. The title is “Florida Bachelor Level SLP”
  21. I totally get not wanting to retake the GRE. You definitely have a lot of experience which is a positive but unfortunately schools weigh heavily on GPAs and GRE scores. I’m sure many people don’t like, I certainly don’t, it but it’s a painful truth. I looked at some of those same schools when I was getting ready to apply and I know from the ASHA Edfind site many accept GPAs starting at a 3.0 which would mean you just fall inside the range. Have you ever thought of applying to schools that offer an even larger GPA range like University of South Carolina which shows the GPA range starting at a 2.5? I’m not sure that’s the best advice but I have a similar GPA and GRE scores as you do and if I had to do this again I would definitely find and apply to schools that offered a larger range. Alternatively, you could see about maybe taking some courses to boost your GPA? I wouldn’t throw in the towel just yet. You’re definitely passionate about this, you wouldn’t have tried for so long if you weren’t.
  22. Definitely feel proud, you’ve got a great GPA and amazing GRE scores! I understand your confusion since your stats are right where they need to be. Unfortunately, our major can be so competitive that even great applicants such as yourself have trouble. If you are willing to relocate I remember a thread that mentioned Florida allows you to practice as an SLP with just your bachelors in the school system as long as you get accepted into a masters program within two years. Maybe something worth looking into? I’m rooting for you to get into SJSU!!
  23. Does anyone have any insight on the interview? You don’t have to give specific questions but I’m worried because it’s a relatively short interview.
  24. What are some of the schools you’ve applied to? I definitely don’t think you should give up if it’s your passion. Have you thought of retaking the GREs?
  25. I saw on the results page someone called and asked them and you should hear back about an interview a week after the deadline. I don’t think they get many applications so I would imagine they get through everything rather quickly but I could be wrong
