  1. Speech@NYU, Speech@Baylor, George Washington University are all schools I’ve applied that include pre-requisites for students who don’t have a degree in CSD. The first two are online, GWU is in person so if you’re okay with moving it’s a pretty nice school
  2. Unfortunately no funding for me. I’m planning to apply for more scholarships after this semester to show a strong GPA and hopefully receive some funding. Since I’m also a leveling student so costs for me anywhere look to be around the same ballpark which stinks massively. Surprisingly the cost wasn’t as bad as expected. Still super high though. I don't think a low score should disqualify you, cause mine wasn’t super stellar. They do have the average of student GRE scores floating around and I think average quant was 150-156, with them accepting 25% of students who scored below that. They do view things holistically (or so they claim) so a low quant score shouldn’t ding everything on your application. I remember someone posting that they got in with a sub 140 score.
  3. I applied for the Fall 2019 cohort and was accepted to Speech@NYU part-time. The application process wasn't too bad. The admissions counselors are really nice and love to check up on you, and may make frequent phone calls. Some people found it annoying, but I had a lot of questions so I found it really helpful that they called frequently and were usually relatively easy to reach. I had a 3.610 undergrad GPA and received a 147Q and 157V on the GRE. Some relevant work experience 2 years post undergrad. Currently I'm taking the leveling courses and I'm enjoying them so far. They split the leveling course load so it's not too heavy for anyone. I like that it's mostly distance, but you do have to go there for practicum one and two.
  4. GWU has rolling admissions. Their “deadline” was back February, but I still applied in May and was waitlisted for fall 2019. I heard back from them a week after I applied and in their letter they stated if there was space, they would continue to accept students up until classes began. Rolling admissions for some schools mean that they’ll accept application until the incoming class is filled. Usually it also means you have a larger time frame to gather things you need and submit your application. If you check their deadline and they state they are rolling or do not have a concrete deadline you can still apply to see if this cohort is still accepting students. However a major disadvantage to rolling admissions and applying this late is most people applied back in December to February, so there is a huge possibility majority of them are full. Some schools do offer spring and summer starts.
  5. I currently have applied to both Baylor and NYU! Both were easy enough to apply, and NYU waived the fee for attending a webinar, which I believe they do monthly. When you request for more info they'll usually email you dates for the webinars and how to get your application fee waived for attending. I called to touch base about my application, and the admissions counselor at Baylor asked me a few questions (do I have a support system, what's my internet connection like, etc.). The cost of both programs are daunting for me, since I'm out of field and would need to take leveling courses in addition to graduate courses, so if you're in field or have taken pre-requisites it will be much cheaper. I'm still waiting for them to finalize my application and have it reviewed so crossing my fingers that it's all over soon and I get an acceptance somewhere hopefully! Best of luck to you!
  6. Thanks so much it’s really encouraging to hear! I did end up calling and they said my stuff should be finalized within the next week so hopefully by early to mid July I’ll hear back for sure!
  7. That's great to hear! Congratulations on getting into Baylor! Honestly it's just a relief to hear that they did confirm in some way once the application was fully received. I guess they'll call me once they get everything finalized so that eases my nerves a little. Since it's only been two weeks(?) since I submitted everything I should definitely relax for a bit then. Thanks so much! Best of luck on your journey to becoming an SLP!
  8. Yea, I'm still waiting to hear back from both since they said they were out of office last week for some professional development, but since I turned in my application literally right before they left the office for the week I feel like I'm being too neurotic and impatient at the moment. I would definitely like an email confirming whether or not they've received my transcripts and that they've attached it to my application! I applied to GWU and once they got everything they sent in an email telling me that everything was received and under review, so I was hoping for something like that from Baylor and NYU. I've scheduled a phone call with Baylor for tomorrow, and if NYU still hasn't sent an email out confirming that they've received everything I'll call them afterwards. I was wondering if anyone else had this same thing going on with NYU and Baylor.
  9. Has anyone else gotten super nervous waiting to hear back from graduate schools? Two of the schools I applied to (Baylor and NYU) requested for my official transcripts, and never got back to me whether or not they've received them. Once they received them did you receive an email notifying you that your transcript was received and your application is in the process of being reviewed or anything of the sort? Or was it once it was sent in you don't hear back until you get an acceptance/waitlist/denial? Was anyone else in the same situation as I am? It's so stressful not knowing whether or not my application has been fully received and I would love some insight to know whether or not I'll be notified once my application is completed and under review.
