Just received my finalist notification for Korean!

I am unsure, I am not sure if programs being virtual will impact people's decisions to accept the award. On previous threads, there has been mention about alternates being made finalists. 

Congratulations all  Excited to be a finalist for Urdu this year. Most of us if not all will be virtual, but be sure to make the best of the experience regardless!!

Mandarin is super competitive, rooting for you!

Does anyone know what the chances that an alternate is given a spot are?

Hey, I'm probably going to apply for Mandarin... having a hard time figuring out my study-hours equivalents. 
I am really hoping they'll do virtual programs if summer 21 is still on lockdown instead of cancelling outright!
I'm also applying to the Middlebury programs.

Global Affairs at NYU accepted me back in October. Still waiting on others.

I heard back from American SIS and got accepted a couple weeks ago. I didn't really apply early either.

It seems a little late but that doesn’t mean that it is impossible and also don’t get caught up in what everyone else is doing, if you think you can put together a solid application in time you should go for it. Also if you are applying to a graduate degree in Scotland or other places in the UK if it is a partnership award not all of those require letters of affiliation or admission at the time of application, so check the website to double check what you need. But you do have to go through the university admissions process as well.
I cold emailed the person I want to work with in Zambia and he replied the next day, so you never know the process could move much quicker than you think.
