Hi everyone! I didn't apply to this program, since I'm only applying to PsyDs. However, I went to UCSB for undergrad and got two minors through the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, so I'm familiar with several of the professors and I've talked to students in the CCSP program about their experience. I've got plenty to say about the university itself, too! If anyone has any questions, feel free to message me!

Clinical Psych PsyD, LOR from nannying
Psy-aye-aye replied to Psy-aye-aye's topic in Psychology Forum
The two repeat recommenders would be using the same letters as last year, just changing the date on it. I haven’t been continuing the things that they know me from.- 8 replies

Clinical Psych PsyD, LOR from nannying
Psy-aye-aye replied to Psy-aye-aye's topic in Psychology Forum
@justacigar @PsyDuck90 I know that it’s not ideal, but as I said in my post, she’s the only new person who could write me a LOR. Would you recommend that I reuse all 3 LORs from last year when reapplying to schools, instead of reusing 2 and having a new one from a less desirable recommender? I’m concerned about what admissions officers at my preferred program are going to think if they see that I provided the exact same 3 letters as I did last time.- 8 replies

I didn't get any acceptances last year, from the 3 PsyDs and 5 PhDs I applied to. I'm reapplying this year, to PsyD only. For the schools that I'm applying to for the second time, I don't want all 3 of my LORs to be the same as last year. The only new person who can write me one is the person for whom I nanny. I'm applying for child psych specializations and want to be a clinical child psychologist, so this isn't too far from the field, but it's not clinical work at all. The mom has a graduate degree and writes grant applications for a living, so she'll be able to write a good LOR for me. The problem is, what should she include? She doesn't know anything about my academics (I graduated undergrad in 2018). All she knows is my personality, work ethic, morals, etc. My other two LORs will be from the faculty advisor from the mental health org I worked with for 4 years in undergrad, and my clinical manager from when I was a Registered Behavior Technician with kids who have ASD and related disorders.

Fall 2020 Clinical & Counseling PhD/PsyD
Psy-aye-aye replied to dancedementia's topic in Psychology Forum
I’m having serious trouble coping with the uncertainty of the world right now (financial stability and health because of the pandemic) PLUS not knowing if I’m going to grad school in the fall. I interviewed at 2 PsyD programs and already got a rejection from one. The Wright Institute is remaining and it’s my dream program! The admissions director said he gave himself April 1 as a deadline but to expect to hear back mid-March. It’s Friday night March 27 and I am trying not to lose my mind. Does anyone know the deal with the Wright Institute right now? Is there a chance I’ll get an email over the weekend? TIA! -

I spoke to them on the phone and PsyD applicants should call if they haven’t heard back by 1pm on Friday. They had aimed to be done sending decisions out by yesterday (Tuesday) though. Idk what it means if we haven’t heard yet. ? -
