I also applied to ASU and checked my portal but it is still "under review". Can anyone here confirm acceptances or rejections from their portal check? I'm still surprised many of us have not heard back from ASU.

I just confirmed it on Twitter. I know they are reserving the rejection letter for those of us who have not been informed. Anyways whatever the case....I will keep believing and trying.
Do you happen to know if anyone has been accepted to UIOWA? One of my top choices so still holding out hope.

I hope so! Has anyone heard back from any of these universities?
Nope. Hoping ASU is letting us know this week because I can't wait another week ?

No worries we are in the same boat.
I’m down to three applications and I just hope I’ll have one acceptance..the waiting game is killing me.
Hopefully you both hear from your programs soon with good news! Waiting it out is the worst part but keep your head up!

I knew i was rejected from UW-Madison because of the update on the portal, but I just received an official rejection letter via email. Kinda wanted the portal to be wrong, but I guess I am REJECTED REJECTED lol
Sorry to hear about the rejection, I hope you hear good news from other programs!

This is the second time I apply for WGSS programs and I swear I might get rejected again from all programs this cycle.
I am pretty much dying waiting for decisions. Seriously never applying for a PhD if I fail at this one more time. Life probably has wayyyyy better things for me than this corrupt academic system.:))))) just wanted to rant on here since this is the Feminist Studies forum and I don't really care.
It honestly is so awful on how hard it is to get into schools, not based on ability to do the work but based on funding. I don't plan to apply another cycle for WGSS after this year either. I wish you the best of luck hearing back from programs!

I know ASU's director said they would be sending out decisions mid-Feb but I can't stop my anxious mind from checking the results page every day. I hope they send out decisions soon. I know many of you are in the same boat!

May be sending a message to the Graduate Studies Director won't be bad afterall.
If you do please let me know what they say! They usually send out decisions the last week of Jan. but who knows with Covid.

Hello! I saw no one had replied to you yet and figured I'd take a shot. While I don't know what programs look for in a candidate in terms of coursework (I'm sure any sociology classes are beneficial) but I believe your background in economics will be a plus for programs that specialize in political economy, labor movements, etc. I don't know of specific programs that specialize in these topics because my research interests have limited my searches of programs, but I think you could definitely get in somewhere!

Anyone have more info on NC state?

what are the "top 10" schools for sociology?
Hello! I've looked at this website before to determine the ranking of sociology programs (I don't know if this is the best-I know others are out there. This is just what I use). This list is helpful because I believe it has almost every sociology phd program on there. Hope this helps!

Right! I've been on reddit threads and stuff trying to figure out if they sent out any info yet, but everything is geared towards STEM PhDs with little info on prior years
FYI I just saw on the results page that someone emailed the graduate director for ASU and they said the GD wasn't sending out decisions until mid-Feb. So we have a couple more weeks to wait unfortunately.?Hang in there!

Same! I've been super anxious but I'm trying to stay calm until the 1st week of Feb. I'll definitely let you know when I hear something back!
Same here! I looked at previous years for ASU's decision dates and they seem to line up with this week (late Jan). But, then again may be different because of Covid.

Hi all! I've been looking for a thread relating to gender/women's studies phd program applications and haven't found any for 2021's application cycle. I'm sure this week and the next few weeks will be full of anxiety for many of us but I hope this thread will help us connect with each other to feel a little bit better. I'm waiting to hear back from Arizona State myself. Best of luck to everyone!
