It's been a while since I posted this. I have decided to leave the program and I am currently waiting to hear back from job and transfer applications. It is a complicated situation that involves me filling a DEI grievance against my advisor. I am angry and sad and excited all at once but mostly I am grieving the end of something.

I don't see anybody who is talking about Case Western. If you applied and/or plan to attend CWRU, please DM me.

I will be attending Case Western this Fall! They gave me full tuition + $15,000 a year stipend. This was actually my second time applying. I got into Case Western and NYU IFA for Fall 2020 but decided to go to Yale for a Master’s in religion. My subfield is medieval art so I’ll be studying with Elina Gertsman.

Duke's already finished their interviews I believe. I didn't get an invite so I am crossing it off my list now. Based on what I have been seeing from previous years they may release their decision next Tuesday.
Edit: I was talking about their Early Christianity interviews. Not sure if other concentrations were doing interviews.

Hi All! I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself!
I am currently at YDS, and this is my second application cycle. My concentration is NT/EC. Last year I didn't get into anywhere, but I did get an interview from Duke.
This year I am applying for Yale, Harvard, Duke, Brown, UNC, UVA, and Marquette. I had my interview with UNC last week and was told that I would hear back in late Jan.
Hoping for the best and best of luck to every one!

@ksitigarbha I have also not heard anything from UChicago. I reached out to my POI on Friday and she said she's unable to answer the question...

Hey people waiting on Harvard CSR. I reached out to my POI over the weekend and heard back today. They said that the GSAS will release their list of admitted students back to the committee this Friday and that they will get the decisions out immediately. Hopefully this helps those of us that have been thinking "oh maybe today!"

If you mean Boston University... I have heard about 3 acceptances so far and they all came out at different times, via phone call from potential advisors. I didn't apply to BU so that's all I know.

Last year Yale released their decisions on Feb 12, so I have a feeling that it might be tomorrow... we will see.

Some of these results may be legitimate but FYI - we get a number of troll posts/results around this time every year.

Someone just posted a Yale interview on the result page. Can anyone here claim it? Which subfield?
I thought Yale wasn't doing interviews this year...

Fiat reacted to TheWanderingStudent in Which phD program should I choose?
I've just submitted Ph.D. applications and have started hearing back with invitations to interview (which is both exhilarating and terrifying). Of these, the 2 opportunities that most interest me are: 1) 3-year PhD fellowship at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, doing what looks like fairly groundbreaking work in my field—but very narrowly focused. 2) Normal 5-7 year PhD at the University of Chicago, which has one of the oldest and most renowned religious studies departments in the world and will give me excellent, broad training in the discipline.
I know I might be jumping the gun a bit as the interviews are still to come (and who knows, I might totally bomb them), but my mind is going round and round trying to figure out which is the better opportunity career wise, especially since I know very little of how European PhD's work. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

I'm late to the party but I've been following your thread.
I got an invitation for interview/conversation from my POI at Duke yesterday. PhD in early Christianity track. @emeraldsapphire  I saw that you are also at Yale? The word about me getting the interview probably spread yesterday and you are probably referring me haha. We probably know each other from school.

I hope everyone is doing well! I have committed to YDS and the ISM. I just made a FB group called Yale Divinity School Admitted Students 2020 if anything wants to connect and share info.

Just accepted my offer to YDS, MAR- History of Christianity with full tuition. So excited! I do, however, feel for people still feeling the sting from rejections. That was me last year- 9 rejections and no acceptances. It hurts and it is hard and it was a really long year. This is just to say that I'm very grateful for the offer from YDS.

FOR STUDENTS ACCEPTED TO YALE DIVINITY SCHOOL:

I am a second year student in the MAR program, graduating in May. Feel free to PM me with questions about the program, life in New Haven, campus life, student organizations, etc.
I know this is a difficult decision for some of you. To be best of my ability, I'd love to help you get a better sense of what to expect if you come to YDS. Best to everyone!

Yes I actually got into Case with a full tuition scholarship and am currently on the waitlist for a 15K stipend! Seriously considering going there but my parents want me to go to UChicago MAPH just because of the name.

Grad students are here. As per taking courses outside the Div. School the policy can be found here. In short, such courses must be directly relevant to your goals and if you take a fourth course in the same department it'll trigger a PSC review which is more of a formality and gives a more structured chance to decide how the the two departments (Div School and Medieval) might work together to support you, while also making sure that you're on track with everything.

@Fiat I'd take a look at Yale's associated faculty for their Medieval Studies program, if you haven't already, and see if there are faculty there you could envision taking a course with.
They always post semester courses here but Fall 2020 hasn't been posted yet and it looks like course search hasn't been updated for Fall yet either.
There's not a lot of Religious Studies peeps on their faculty list but there are some. The Christian medievalists that I know, few in number, have not come from Yale but that doesn't mean you can't be very successful there!
Under their People heading is a listing of current grad students with contact information. The few I looked at all had bios too, so I'd find someone that you connect with and try to get their honest opinion. My limited experience has told me that you're more likely to get a frank assessment over the phone than by email, FYI.
